My first Patek - Caring advice
Hi everyone,
I just acquired my first Patek Philippe - a 5296G-010, which I think is one of the most beautiful watches ever. I have a 16710 and 114060 as well, but this is the first time I have a watch this delicate. With my other watches, I tend to use one for a month at the time, and keep the other in a winder. As such, they are always "rolling". Always had the idea that unscrewing and screwing the crown as little as possible is best.... I plan on using my Patek watch 1-2 days per week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Wondering what the best way is to care for it? Is it to put it in a winder when I don't use it, or let it run out in between, then manually wind it before I use it, or will that over time cause unnecessary tension? Any advice on what would be the best way to care for it when it comes to longevity? And if you believe I should treat my Rolex watches differently, please let me know. Thank you very much! |

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on a great Patek.
I wouldn’t worry about using a winder. It just causes 24/7 movement wear instead of just the days you are wearing it. Just give it a wind and set it before you wear and off you go. There’s also something lovely about bringing it back to life yourself I think :) Enjoy!
