UK msrp prices significantly higher

Hi all,

Picking up a new piece this week from AP in London, I have noticed that msrp is significantly higher (£5k+) in this instance to the US and countries in Asia, why is this so? My SA says that headquarters balance prices globally around CHF every few quarters yet we are working with near +-10% differences. Feels kind of painful having to spend thousands more for the same piece.

Congrats on your incoming OP, what are you getting?

I believe the Uk had a price increase in Sept/Oct 2023. As to why the UK is comparatively more expensive than other countries, I’ve no idea.

US prices on the website are excluding VAT as it varies per state.
Once VAT is added it should be fairly the same.

The only significant difference that I have noticed is Swiss vs Europe, but that is due to much lower VAT in Switzerland of 7.7% as opposed to 19% - 22% in European countries.

Congrats on the incoming.

Was with my brother last week in Bangkok and he lives in Aus. We worked out the same discrepancy is going on with Rolex, retail prices are over 10% higher in the UK than Aus!

There is probably a reason the Europeans called us Treasure Island for years though!

Pretty sure its due to FX rates Niki

In recent years when AP UK have had some price increases there has also been some slight decreases due to FX rates.

Make sense; prices are set/equalised and then currency fluctuations change things until subsequent price changes come in. Thanks Gareth.
