Your opinion and help please

Hi All,

I am considering selling my two Hublot watches so I can buy the AP 15202. I used to be a big Hublot fan, but I recently found myself growing out of the brand and looking to resizing my collection to fewer watches but with more value and history. I currently own Rolex submariner 16610 and 16613, Rolex Milgauss GV and a PAM392.
My question is do you think I should be selling my two Hublot watches to buy the AP 15202? I know this is an AP forum and most of us here love AP, but I would greatly appreciate your unbiased opinion. I am not considering selling any of my other watches as I truly love each one of them. The Hublots I am kind of bored of them and they don't get enough wrist time. However, again I am wondering if it is worth it to lose two watches to buy one watch.

Also, does the AP 15202 retain its value? If I am to sell the Hublots I will be losing a good amount of money. I don't want this to be the case if I ever decide to sell the AP.

I attach a picture of my two Hublots. I greatly appreciate your honest opinion and advice. Thanks.

Very good plan!

You will never regret it. Quality over quantity!

If you buy the 15202 40th aniv. model, in good used condition, you don't have to loose money. Don't buy retail!

Good luck!

If you are bored with the Hublots and like the Jumbo .. sure, go for it. I would. It's a classic!

The carbon fibre dial is quite fun but I'd sell them for an AP.

You mentioned two things that make for an easy decision:

"I used to be a big Hublot fan, but I recently found myself growing out of the brand..."

AND

"The Hublots I am kind of bored of them and they don't get enough wrist time."

So, I think the Hublots must go.

The biggest issue with Hublot is how many "limited" editions they do. I got suckered in and bought from AD in Cannes last year a Big Bang Unico Black Magic.. Shortly after they did Red / Blue and Green I think AD Exclusive editions... Then rose gold.. Then carbon fiber, then Carbon Fiber metallic blue and gray.. Then Scuderia, then Aperta.. you catch my drift..

I did get a good price, as it was tax free 20% plus another 15% discount, but damn... They are treating the brand like it's Swatch..

So.. yes, get rid of them and get a 15202. APs hold the value a lot better, especially an iconic piece like the Jumbo

Hublot Big Bang is so 2005, I think the Royal Oak has stand the test of times since the 70's and the 15202 is destined to be an alltime classic.

Thanks to all of your valuable replies. To be honest, in order for me to be able to afford the 15202 I need to sell both watches. I am not willing at this point to spend money on a watch (plus the wife is not very supportive of spending on another new watch!). I also am not planning on buying a used 15202 as it is my first AP and I want to live the experience... Plus from my quick search I don't think the difference between used and new is worth considering the used...

Few years ago I was a very big fan of Hublot, collected everything related to Hublot too. But back then I wasn't as educated in watches as I am now. Now, I do understand watches much more and I do appreciate what watchmaking is all about. Back then Hublot was a very cool watch for me. Now I am honestly bored of the watches and I noticed that their finishing isn't that great. I also didn't find that the watches are reliable in terms of the movement. I also decided that I need quality over quantity. I want to focus on top watches with history, etc...

I think the answer is clear, and I know what I want - the AP 15202. It has been my dream watch for a while, and I have been obsessing about it for ages. However, it is the first time I ever sell a watch let alone two, so this is why I am a bit worried and debating the idea of doing the move...

I look forward to hear more of your comments. Thank you very much again :)

I don't hate Hublot, but that's a no brainer (I've voted option #1). The 15202ST is one of the very few examples of classic 70s watch designs that stood the test of time. It's amazing how fresh it could still be, 40 years later, in the digital age. Go for it, you won't regret it

Go ahead and sell both, once you have the AP the Hublots will look/feel even worse.

Thanks to you all on your valuable replies! I knew that the many will tell me buy the AP but I didn't expect that almost everyone will say so. The poll numbers also are very interesting. I am already talking to several people regarding selling the Hublots. Will keep you posted but meanwhile please keep posting your opinion and voting. Thanks again
