Sorry if this is a dumb question

Hi AP experts. Sorry if this seems like a silly question. Here it is. Is there any chance that in the years ahead AP will discontinue servicing or providing parts for the 3120. I feel a little sheepish asking this as AP is a trinity brand and I can’t see them ever turning their back on their previous customers. I do wonder though as I do hope to add a Royal Oak to my collection, and at least for now prefer the 15400.

Thanks

Anything can happen but extremely unlikely for many many years. Also, 3120 is still used on the Diver and 15450.

AP has many customers who bought their watch with 3120 movement and I don’t see any reasons why AP will refuse to service them. The possibility AP not service them is very very low.

I will say just buy it if you still have chance to get the 15400. I own the 15300 and love it

I believe AP is another brand that will service vintage pieces even to the extent that they have to remake the part, so I’m pretty sure the 3120 will be fine for many years to come.

Thanks, I figured this as well. But you never know!

AP will service any watch they have ever made. They will also service watches from the vallee de joux from companies that are no longer around. They do this to keep the history of watchmaking in the Vallee. They will hand make the tools to make the parts to service the watch if needed. Seeing it first hand is really what made me appreciate what AP has done for horology.

I don't think they can do that without causing an uproar among existing owners of AP watches with 3120 movements. Quite confident they will continue to service and make parts available for the foreseeable future.

I also doubt the new movement will fit in a case much smaller than 41mm so I would assume AP will continue to use it

I don’t think it will be a concern in my lifetime or yours.

As per above - nothing to worry about.

3120 is a fine movement

Agree. Wouldn’t worry about servicing with AP at all. They’ve been around since the late 1800s.

Btw, not a dumb question at all.

It would be dumb of AP to not continue to service the 3120
