116610LN: are these real or fake? pls advise thx!

Dear All,

New to the watch forum. Got a question, thanks for reading.

Long story short, went to a private seller for a modern sub-date. Didn't buy it. Images shown here.

Then, went to a local reputable jewellery store (they had called me for availability) for another modern sub-date. Bought it. Images shown here.

For my sub:
- I have found the date magnification and date change, 8 ticks per second, the adjustable clasp, the finishing and edges, to be all on point.
- But is the lettering on the dial a bit off? Also the lume duration is quite short. It glows a bright blue, but after 20 mins charging, only lasts ~15 mins.

Discussed with my friends, was told highly unlikely for my sub to be fake, as it was bought in a reputable jewellery store.

Since I had already bought it, I know I can't do anything about it, whether it is fake or not. But I would like the opinion of you guys, with more experience than myself. All opinions welcome. Thanks!

firstly
If you were sold a FAKE you have recourse. Its illegal (and immoral) to sell a fake. So if you have any doubt, you can just ask your money back.

Now, based on inadequate photos, neither looks fake to me. Nor do I see any evidence of reworked dial or hands in the one you bought.
Its using Super Luminova and should shine bright quite a while.

If you have any doubts, get it checked by an AD.
If you PM me the serial number, I can check it on a large database of fakes,

I am pretty sure your watch is good - so do NOT get stressed yet

Since you can't do anything about it, then I won't tell you the bad news then.

Just enjoy it! Next time, do your homework first.

Why, can he not do anything about it??
And what bad news?

He explicitly said he can't do anything about it after purchase.

I see a discrepancy in the dial...maybe it's the picture taken, but doesn't look right.

Did you read his post and my response?

His post:
"went to a local reputable jewellery store"

My Response:
"firstly

"

He bought the watch from a "reputable Jewellery Store" - of course he has recourse.

If you see some issue, you should clearly let him know, and he can take action.

Personally from the very inadequate photo, I see no red flags

For the benefit of the OP please could you expand on the discrepancy you have spotted?

Cheers

What did you pay for it?

(That will answer a lot.)

The pics are no go to make a decision - the first watch frankly, has better pics and looks great. the second has "tuned" photos and you can't tell anything by them.

I think it's the best interest for the community for me not to reveal imperfection. The folks producing fake ones are taking notes to perfect the next counterfeit.

OP, take it to Rolex AD and let them open it up and verify for you if you want to know 100% sure. Based on the picture you provided, I don't like what I see. My suggestion is for you to take it to a Rolex AD. Good luck.

I doubt there is anything wrong with either. but those photos prove nothing.
Please PM me with what you see so bad in the 2nd watch
Thanks

I am pretty sure 95% that your watch is good.
But if you are still concerned then:
1) Post photo of movement or engraving on inside of lugs
2) Take to an AD.

If you PM me the serial number, I can check that too

This is all you need to know. There are 3 people on these threads who know their stuff inside and out. Freefly is one and the other 2 have not commented. If Eric says it's good, it's good.
