Thoughts on Authenticity? (Yacht Master)
In negotiations to purchase this '99 YM from a fairly well-established (Since mid 80s) family jewelry store that deals in pre-owned watches. The date magnification looks a little off (but that could just be the angle). Thoughts anyone?

And the back of the watch. i.e. caseback, endlinks and Case/Endlink fitment detail (close-up).

Even if that is genuine, I would pass. Too much polishing, bracelet stretch, and the bezel looks terrible. The coronet on the bracelet has been polished to a blur.

It's supposed to be 40mm. Also, to those who want to see more pictures, that's all I have at the moment, sorry. If anyone else has thoughts on condition I would love to hear them too. This would be my first swiss watch aside from a Tag, and while I don't need something in totally mint condition, I don't want a complete piece of junk either.

Case looks like it’s been polished to aerodynamic proportions.

Original, nicest Pt YM dial around with the fat font red print.
Case is OK, bracelet worn and unfortunately crown on the clasp destroyed by polishing. Bezel can use a refurb. All in all I would not buy this one. Not even dirt cheap. Much cleaner examples are on the market.

Bezel has seen better days and that bezel is expensive. It would have to be in the low 4k to be enticing as the band is also worn.

Hard to tell from pics what size it is. I think condition is below average, you can certainly RefurbMe the bezel and band, you can never get the clasp coronet back though. I would pass unless the price very attractive

That bracelet looks knackered. And it's been polished to death. To me, this throws up enough red flags before we even begin to examine authenticity.

That bracelet is considered too worn for a 20 year old watch?

What are you paying for that thing? I just sold one that was near mint, full set, M serial with engraved rehaut, etc. That bracelet needs work, and so does the bezel. Chances are it will need a service as well judging by the cosmetics. Unless you're getting it for $4k like the other posted suggested, i would pass and get a newer one that has not been worn as much. Look for one with a good bezel that doesn't have shiny spots and a bracelet that is not worn out.

Many of these are not worn every day. For a watch that was worn frequently for the better part of 20 yrs that is probably normal, although as a buyer the OP should account for that wear. Sometimes paying more upfront for a watch that was rarely worn is a better value proposition rather than buying one for cheap and trying to refurb it.
