Right now I think any of the GMT-Master IIs are some of the best pieces Rolex makes. I own a BLNR and it tends to get the most wrist time of all of my references (along with my Omega Speedmaster).

I also feel that the Daytona reeks of quality and finish. If they weren't impossible to get at MSRP, I'd be hunting for one right now.

I consider 5 digit as modern as they all have wg surround. For some strange reason I find myself keep going back to my 14060M rather than my 16700.

SD43, it’s perfection as far as I’m concerned.

i own both the sub no date and the sd43. i like the sd43 for its overall proportion, wider bezel, the red text and better wrist presence. but speaking of wearing comfort, sub no date is the one to be my daily watch.

Tie between 116610ln and 116710ln. I’d probably lean toward the GMT though

14060M Z serial or newer.

Best of both worlds.

5/6 digit Sub, SD43, 5/6 digit GMT II and Lv Anniversary Sub along with a few of the Explorer models (can’t think of the Ref#s offhand).

116500 DaytonaC (White)

Instant classic. And, in my opinion, easily the best modern Rolex.

114060 and 214270. The most symmetrical, timeless IMO. Clean lines, simple, handsome. More staying power for me--busyness in the dial, color ( depending on the color), crowded big numbered bezels get tiring after awhile.
