I've been a TRF lurker, but just recently finally acquired my first Rolex, and I chose this clean but honest U serial 16570 Polar. Since the majority of my collection is towards vintage and dressier side, 16570 has become my go-to watch for anything active as well as for work (I travel and work with multiple timezones daily).

I'd love to post some photos to contribute to the thread, but looks like I need 10+ posts to do so...

Nice shot.

I prefer the black dial too. I wear mine with jubilee bracelet and find it very comfortable.

Love the Polar42 on a Tudor Heritage Chrono fabric strap. Compliments the watch perfectly!

Anyone with a 216570 Polar buy from an AD and get a good deal? What did you pay and when?

I love the history of the GMT Master however the explorer II just looks so much nicer and was the perfect size for me! I like this watch so much that i’m very tempted to buy white model for summer.... but might wait to see what they do for the 50th anniversary of the expII, if anything.
I totally hear you and understand. I love the Explorer 2 so much that I've strongly considered adding the polar to the collection.

The 16570 216570 is a leftover watch, it's ok looking have no historical significance no vintage value, no Hollywood glamorous status, is in a useless category among its glorified brothers. It's not a piece of jewellery and too much of a tool watch for the office, thus they are undesirable.

Everyone on earth wants a Sub or GMT, those with deeper pockets go for Daytonas and PM models. ExpII should be valued for 4k or less, even with that price hardly anyone I know wants them.

Picked this up three months ago and has been my favorite. Sub-C, GMT2-C and the DJ2 have all been in the vault since...

I don't particularly care for the black dial EXPII, but I will acquire a Polar by the end of the year .... Unless someone wants to unload one for a stupid price, then maybe by the end of the month hahahaha!!

16570 is the ultimate Rolex tool watch. IMO Introduction of ceramic bezel on Rolex Sports watch transformed the Rolex brand into a more luxury oriented market niche. The Tudor brand replaced the Rolex tool watch product line. This is a smart move. Limit the number of watches Rolex makes each year to keep the brand exclusive and hike up profit margin. Rolex & Tudor VS Lexus & Toyota analogy. People who bought Rolex watches 20 years ago really lucked out as they now have a none depreciating asset on their wrist to enjoy every day

The next step will be for Rolex to do limited production volume for each models. Customers wanting to buy a highly coveted Daytona must have purchased previous Rolex models or agrees to buy a certified pre-owned Rolex model to be eligible for waiting list on future new model product launch. Ferrari sales tactic may work in luxury watch marketing.

Or do what Hermes does with their Birkin hand bags. Establish Tudor modes as the Kelly hand bags of Hermes which customers can buy readily at the store and resurrect the Rolex brand as the Birkin series with waiting list and customer hierarchy as the ultimate luxury brand sales strategy.

I recently have been drawn to the explorer ii 16570. However I only have 6.5" wrists and am a little worried about it wearing too big. Would anyone who owns the 16570 be willing to give me the measurements of the lug to lug, dial diameter, and thickness? I'd really appreciate it as I do not have any access to try one of these beauties on.

I'm sure it does compared to other Rolex sport models. But my usuals are a 36mm Omega and a 36mm Tudor, so I'm trying to feel it out by looking at some measurements.

First time posting but I have an A series Polar and absolutely love it. Great contrast to my BLNR and an incredible value for a 3 complication watch. Has been worn to both weddings and climbing mountains.

Still true, four years on.

From one Toyota guy to another, you should be looking, Karl. I have both dials and haven't regretted owning them ever.

I have a polar 3186 16570 that I live so much and it’s replaced my 14060M as my daily. But I keep looking at pictures of various black 16570 on jubilee bracelets and think I may try to acquire a head only at fair price and then get a jubilee for it. It’s so off the radar and has great utility I love the 16570. I see guys wearing subs and DJ in my office daily. Even an occasional GMT or sea dweller. Have never seen a EX2 in the wild.

That is a good looking explorer. May I ask what type of jubilee bracelet I need for this particular explorer? I have the same version as yours - with rehaut already, but white dialed.
