Purchase of a 16610LV "Kermit" help..

Hello,

I am about to purchase a Submariner 16610LV from 2008 with papers. It´s from an Italian dealer on Chrono24. I would like to have opinions on the pictures from you experts as I do not have experience in purchasing a used Rolex.

I didn't see a card with those inconsistent size/font of words.

Maybe that's the correct way for 200 card. Just I didn't see one before..

The pictures look pretty good & has the newer warranty card & Rehaut . The insert looks correct also & I think the 200 code means it was originally sold/purchased in Greece. But I would be very wary myself of purchasing just from these pictures.

It looks good. One of upsides of buying an M is the rehaut, which has further points of reference to check and the more recent paperwork. What are you paying? $10.5k?

I think for that kind of money I would like a FTF somewhere , & if its the one I have looked at on Chrono 24 the seller would be open to possibly meet up .

Buy it. If you want it, are sure it’s legit, and have the money, get it. Although, you might have a little customs duty to pay on it when it arrives.

Have many conversations with seller to see if they are sincere...??

Ask for references.

Ask the seller to set the time to 4:32 on the 15th and text you a picture...

Doesn't guarantee, but can help

It is the one I have looked at on Chrono 24 & the seller seems to check out Ok, but as on posts above ask for proof that the watch being sold is actually the one in the pictures posted.and if all checks out I would probably buy it as it looks a nice clean example.

Never seen "16610LV" written on the card - but "16610V" is (normally) the text on these cards.

I am not crazy about this watch in pictures, but I saw one in the flesh this weekend. Looks great in person. Good luck with the purchase.

OP if I were you I wouldn’t deal with Chrono24 especially with Italian Dealers.
Even trusted sellers on Chrono24 turn savage and scam people out of thousands of Euros and Dollars. If you’re buying with Paypal you’re protected but if you’re using bankwire Chances of you losing your money is a lot higher than you getting the watch...

Not sure if you've pulled trigger, but there are quite a few in London from good bricks and mortar sellers

Trust your SELLER, how many times does this need to be said?

Ask yourself, if something goes wrong with this watch (like it doesn't keep time, it's fake, it arrives broken with the hands off in transit etc etc etc) are you willing to gamble $11k that will they take care of you and resolve the issue?

If your not 100% sure, walk away.

Find a seller YOU trust.

I agree with you, almost as if the warranty card was blank and someone photoshopped wrong font numbers and letters on it...

I already warned OP to stay away...

I'm in the process of buying my first Rolex and I will share this with you.

A friend from another forum told me, "Buy the seller, not the watch." He also pointed out that this is a great forum, and there are many long time members that are here to help and will help you if you reach out.

Look for reputable sellers that have pages, and I mean pages and pages of completed sales, satisfied customers, and go back years and years.

People on this forum will help you out, and point you to trusted sellers like justrolexes (Tony) or DavidSW, there are dozens, and they have long lists going back years of providing superb customer service and delivering outstanding watches.

This is something you are investing a large amount of money in, that you want to wear with pride fully understanding what you're getting.

As TRF member Brenngun advised me, "Slow Down"....do your research and homework.

With the help of Tony, I'm hoping, sorry will be saying, "Incoming" next week regarding my first purchase of a stunning Rolex that I've wanted for 20 + years.

Just my opinion, hope this helps....good luck.
