9 black + 3 white Ceramic Daytona for Shreve (Palo Alto), but only 3 SkyD

Stopped by Shreve in Stanford this weekend, was told:

- In 2017, they received twelve 116500 (9 black and 3 white)

- The 326934 is an allocation piece, they've received only three (1 of each) and are not taking names. According to them, it is more exclusive than even the 116500.

So there you go, the ratio sounds right and aligns with everything else I heard, though I feel the Sky-D is becoming more available and won't be the next Daytona. Still waiting for my blue dial though...

My dealer who sold me the black dial yesterday told me that only about 500 Sky-D were sold in US in 2017.

I have my name for a SD43 on the waiting list at that same AD 6 moths ago, I doubt they will ever call me. Good luck on your Daytona

My AD also told me they received more Daytonas compared to the SkyD in 2017. That said, the SkyD lists are a lot shorter (with the exception of the blue dial), such that I only expressed interest a few weeks back and the next black dialed one is mine.

Well shucks...guess I'll be waiting a while then.

That's OK. I may be able to fill the emptiness and void in my life with some PM while I'm waiting.

Hey Larry! you should buy the white cold Sky-D! Looks just like the stainless/white gold White dial.

12 Daytonas for both Shreve locations or just for the Stanford one? Thanks.

Picked my TT SkyD black dial from Palo Alto location about a month ago, settled for what was my second choice after SS Blue.

White and Champagne TT were available at another AD along with Sub and blue/black GMT.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that the watch was announced in March of 2017 versus the Daytona's been up and running since 2016?.......Either way for now, seems like harder pieces to come by until Rolex gets back to producing/distributing them.

Oh, I'll be taking a look at whatever makes it in to my AD this year. I think I could make any of them work.

Your black is awesome, by the way.

12 for just Stanford, seemed like a high amount compared to other places

Lines up with what my AD told me as an allocation piece and a long patient wait until my delivery yesterday. They were as excited to get mine in and see it as much as I was!

One a month. Sounds about the same as my AD out here.

Hmm. I never asked my AD but judging by how long I had to wait...sounds reasonable.

Checked Danville based AD yesterday, nice gentleman who seemed to be the owner told that he is not taking any reservations for SS skyD. They had Sub and explorer I in store. For now sea dweller he has deposits.
I guess if you happen to be at right place at right time you might stumble upon the one you are looking for. Benefits of having multiple ADs in close proximity you can keep showing up.

While I haven't scoured the earth, I've yet to happen upon a DaytonaC in an AD but have seen a skydweller. That said, I've had no luck buying either and can't bring myself to rationalize the gray market price.

Dumb question, but since Shereve is an AD, do they have to sell it at MSRP?

Yes! Unless you're a well-known VC or CEO of a huge Tech company who has already purchased 10+ watches from them. In that case you may get 5-10% off a Daytona C or Sky-D. Of course, the sales tax here is nearly 10%, so it is not a screaming deal, but you can buy the watch!

I think technically they don’t, but I believe it’s the type of behavior that Rolex will frown upon and pull the authorization stamp.

https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/comp...cturer-imposed

There are some mutual understanding and manufacturers can choose not to do business with retailers who don’t follow guidelines.

BTW Shreve is getting rid of Omegas so if someone is in market for Omega there are deals to be had.
