Vintage boxes
Are these the correct boxes for a 1973 Red Sub 1680?

The “Moon Crater” box is a later Rolex outer box. A ‘73 Sub (bearing in mind it could’ve been sold a year or two later, as watches do sit around shops) could have a white with green stripe outer box, or a seahorse outer box.
And if it was sold later into the mid-70s a oyster shell outer box, OR, in America, an early Bufkor box. |

I take it that is the outer cardboard box, is the inner box correct?

The early crater or moonscape boxes originally had the slotted card which held the watch - like that found in the photo. The later version inner box used with this same outer box used a foam cushion covered in suede with a suede wrap that went around the cushion to protect the watch.
