Pam 372 as my first Panerai

I love the fact that panerai makes a 47mm. I have a 8 inch wrist.

Most luxury watch brands dont go any higher than 44mm. When i looked at the panerai design i fell in love with it. Simplicity, perfection on design etc. i ended up going with a Pam 372 (pre-owned) but in perfect shape.

Did i choose the right model? R series which is supposedly the last series with plexiglass.

I was actually looking for a good deal on a 422 but did not find it for what i was trying to spend. Lowest i found was $6800 and i spent alot less on the 372.

372 is a classic

You made the right choice going for plexi...lovely warm tones - not harsh like sapphire.

I was all set to get a 372 but just at the last minute went with the 673 - they are the same case & very similar, just a few minor differences with dial text etc.

Enjoy your new purchace & welcome to the Panerai club

372 is a very strong choice, especially for a guy with a 8” wrist. The detailing is very sharp. Love the dial, case and expo back. Plexi is sexy. Alot of watch for the $$.

I am a big fan of Panerai watches and this one is no exception. The Pam 372 as a first is really huge. Congrats!

Congratulations. I’ve been eyeing the 372 or 422 as a second.

IMO you started in the right place

pam 372 bring my first ever watch with manual winding i was too scared to wind too much. But last night i found the spot where it ends.. it was after 70-80 spins where it resists hard enough to not spin anymore.. something ill have to get used to..

My next watch would be a 47mm submersible.. any out there with 8 day reserve (or is it just 3 days on all submersibles) that has a sapphire crystal back?

For a long time, I thought to myself that a 47mm Luminor 1950 would just be too big. I owned several 44-45mm Luminors and Radiomirs before I bought a 47mm Radiomir 1940. Even at 47mm, the Radiomir 1940 case wore well and I figured that would be the biggest I'd go. The more I wore it, the more I warmed up to the idea of other 47mm Panerai. About a year ago I flipped a smaller Radiomir I owned for the PAM372 and haven't looked back. I too have the older plexi crystal with the 26mm buckle. It does wear large, but somehow it works. All the vintage cues in the design make the reference work rather than look absurd at its size (the same way a Big Pilot just works). It's not a watch I wear everyday, it doesn't work real well with long sleeves, but I do pop it on weekends when I want to make a statement.

I do agree about the better weight distribution on 47mm luminors...

I have N series trio, all 47mm (368,372,375) and I do wear them a lot because they’re comfier than the regular 44mm SS on my 6.5-6.75 inch wrist

Suck a beautiful piece. The lugs on this case set make it very comfortable to wear. Enjoy.

So far my experience has been good. I just need to get in the habbit of winding it before the power runs out.. it has died on me twice in 2 weeks

That's why I prefer the 422. I like a power reserve but not cluttering the dial. The power reserve on the P3001 is in the perfect place.

If Panerai had put a 3001 in the 673 I'd be all over it.

Winding is all part of the 'experience' of owning a Panerai for me.

That interaction with the crown protection lever is all part of the enjoyment...

Little things...lol
