1680 Red Submariner

I am helping my father in law identify his 1680. I believe it's a Mark II ... Any thoughts?

He is the original owner of this beauty.

Thanks that's what I used to compare... Still not sure if it's a 1 or 2 though.

As per Mondani's book I believe it is a MK1. Sharper crown edges on the dial and the f in feet does not extend as far as the end of R in SUBMARINER (as it does on MK2). He's got a keeper there!!

As per the website linked above MK3.

Gadhi my pictures with this iPhone 6 are terrible. He has had it services once 20 years ago in Switzerland at an RSC. I have pictures of him receiving it after the service.

Excuse my ignorance, what does "tropical" refer to?

Just saw Gandhi's last response.

Thanks all for the help. I will let him know.

As I stated he has worn it as part of his collection for years and didn't know he had an rare version. I specifically noticed the red submariner after reading this forum.
