Reasonable service cost for 1977 Tudor
My wife's 1977 Tudor Chrono-time is in need of a service. The "local" CW-21 watchmaker who serviced my 5513 wants the same price (~$1K) to work on this ETA movement. Seems steep to me. Can anyone recommend a good watchmaker that would be substantially cheaper than this? PM me if you don't want it printed here.

Most CW21s will charge between $700-1000 for a full service and polish. The amount of work is the same. The process is the same whether its a Rolex in-house movement or an ETA. They still have to tear it down, still have to clean all of the parts, still have to replace worn parts, still have to oil parts, still have to reassemble and still have to polish.
Im sure you can find an independent who isnt a CW21 and pay much less.
