Ralph Lauren Store, Malibu, CA - Vintage Rolex display

Dear Fellow TRF members,

While recently visiting the RRL men’s store in Malibu, I noticed a small sample of vintage Rolex timepieces available for sale (with generous markups of course). Nonetheless, I wanted to share the small in-store rotation for your viewing pleasure. My favorite is the 1970s black dial Submariner (~$17K).

Happy Rolexing everyone, and enjoy the pictures.

Best,
Seth

So Rolex is now a fashion watch and it has the factory distressed look just like denim jeans. First Costco and now RL.

I’d view RP as a trusted seller. I wonder what’s their return policy.

Is it a sin to state what the prices were? Curious minds want to know.

That Sub is beautiful.

The NY RL store on Madison used to have some vintage watches; Ralph was always a watch guy even before he started his own line.

Not interested. After reading on TRF about the on-line scams, it makes the identification of trusted sellers important. I do wonder if RL is focused more on the ‘look’ of the watch versus making sure it’s all original parts.

I know Ralph is a watch guy, but I’m pretty sure I remember reading that he’s not a big fan of Rolex, despite having a Datejust. I think he’s into Cartiers.

I bet they are consignment pieces given the number of watch dealers in LA catering to Hollywood. Either way a man’s gotta eat! Thanks for sharing.

In NYC the Double RL store also sells a few vintage pieces (have never seen more than 6 though), mostly focused on Rolex. I wouldn't necessarily trust them blindly

I was in the NYC store late summer this year and they had a meters first sub, a 1675, a 1680, a speedy, a snowflake blue Tudor and one other watch I can't remember. All were quite overpriced, had overpolished cases and would require a closer inspection and conversation if interested. Cool to see them in the case though as I wasn't expecting it

The RRL Malibu store has actually, in addition to the display, a full catalog of vintage watches.
Like already said, not the best examples of collectible vintage but always fun to stop by while wife is doing shopping next door at Madison...
