It's a joke of a product, and company, IMHO.

Just watched a 15 minute documentary about the business/financial aspects of the company on the internet this morning. How's that for coincidence ?

Anything that takes proprietary "cartridges" (for lack of a better term) is never a good idea. Why not just buy a good quality juicer that will extract juice from what ever you put into it?

It's a good idea if you're selling them

I suppose I was thinking that it is a mess free way of squeezing juice.

But you have no control over what they put into those packages. How do you know they're not faking everything and twisting the letter of the law like the premium orange juice brands have been for years?

What happens when they (inevitability) go out of business and you can no longer get the packages?

Mess free juice already comes in bottles and cartons from the supermarket and can't be any different than what comes out of this "juicer"

The Bloomberg report was actually quite funny to me when I saw it. Pundits still say that the company still has value in the supply chain that it has put together to get fresh fruits to your door.

But fresh juice is expensive--in fact, if you're looking at comparable cold pressed juices at the supermarket, the Juicero product is actually quite competitively priced ($6-$8). I enjoy juicing, but as anyone who has actually done it can tell you, it's not that fun to clean the machine at the end. And if you want a certain flavor profile, you need to stock a bunch of ingredients, cut them to size, and put them through the machine which all takes time. All of that is effort that Juicero helps to eliminate. Ultimately, I don't think that what they are charging is outrageous if you're in the market for fresh juice.

In fact, not needing the machine even makes it slightly more attractive of a proposition. It's like being able to have the convenience of Nespresso pods without needing to buy the machine!
