116600 Sea-Dweller legit?
Recently I've bought this 116600 Sea-Dweller 2nd hand from a local reputable jeweler (which even was recommended to me by an AD) for a reasonable price.
It looks fine to me, but as it's my first 2nd hand watch, I'm still a little bit uncertain. Hence I would like to ask this knowledgeable community for your opinion - legit or anything suspicious?! Thank you very much for your expertise! |

Looks all fine from those pictures.
If you are still worried final checks would be to: A) Check the serial number against the card b) check the etched crown by the 6 o'clock. C)Roll the date forward using the hour hand, it should flick over just after 12. Then wind it back, the date should reverse. |

Looks like you're good to go. What about box and papers?

Thank you for your replies so far!
The serial number on the rehaut and the number on warranty card matches. No original box was available. The etched laser crown is visible and looks like on my DJ, but hard to take a picture of it with my iPhone. |

@Chalet:
I've tried your date check - the date is flipping as expected just after 12 when turning the hands, but the date won't reverse when I turn the hands backwards. Similar behavior could be observed when doing the same with my Datejust. So I assume that it's normal. |

You have to wind it back a good few hours to get the date to reverse. That said, I wouldn't bother, as everyone else has said, it's genuine. Enjoy! |

Thank YOU again for the feedback.
With your blessing and combined with the trust I have in the seller, I can now fully enjoy my latest acquisition. For a two year old watch this piece was IMHO indeed in a very good condition. Nearly no swirls or scratches could be seen and even some stickers still on the bracelet. There was just one dent on the lower edge of the case which is not visible when on the wrist and as this is my second watch (first one I’ve bought new), I already know that swirls, scratches or dents are unavoidable when owning and actively wearing a timepiece. In addition, after the release of the new 126600 the 116600 rapidly disappeared from the market and prices went up crazy (at least here in Europe). Hence I was happy to find this piece for a reasonable price and in a good condition. There is only one downside: equipped now with my favourite two watches form the entire Rolex line-up (DJ & SD), my desire for watches is somehow satisfied. For every occasion (from wearing my best business suit up to exploring the undersea world in my diving gear) I can select a matching watch. I still appreciate other watches / brands for their design work or tec. specs, but personally I don’t see the need for more than two watches (already now it’s difficult how to distribute the wrist-time). For sure I’ll visit this forum also in future, but maybe less frequently and spend more time enjoying real life … with a great watch on my wrist. Wishing you all a great weekend! |
