light hairline scatch on bezel
Hi, my 243 has a really light hairline scratch on the 10 o'clock part of the bezel. Do you think this (Universal Scratch Brush Refinishing Pen For Titanium, Steel, Gold) will do the job? Any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks! Here is the link of the tool:

I wouldn't try it myself. It's not that noticeable and you'll eventually get another little scratch soon enough. If it really bothers you, take it to Panerai and see what they recommend. Maybe you can have it fixed right at the time of your next service. I'm sure most everyone who wears their PAMS has a scratch or two or three.

If you get more scratches on it, it'll blend away!
I wouldn't mess with trying to fix it unless it is REALLY bothering you. I think it would be hard to get the pattern to match perfectly given the raised indicies on the bezel.

as the others have said, you could have it removed but will have another scratch to replace it soon enough. You can't wear a watch as big as a Pam and not mark it, now it has it's first scratch the rest will be less painful and you can now enjoy wearing the watch without feeling you need to baby it.

I had a couple scratches bothering me on my 177 I got a few months ago. Tried one of those titanium brush pens that people mention in scratch removing tutorials and it seemed to make it worse as it is really hard to judge the pressure needed and I feel like it gouged it a bit.
I then bought a titantium brushing pad on ebay and that actually worked well, but left a bit of "swirling" around the scratch site. Sure it looked better than the scratch, but everything that was meant to help fix it just left another mark. I'd just leave it alone as I won't be messing with mine much in the future. |

Leave it alone. It adds character....now it's yours! Trust me, you'll just add more along the way.

Every time I've tried to "fix" something like that on my own I've only made things worse. Leave it alone and turn it over to the experts at your next service.

Leave the scratch and hope for more in time ;) To me these marks show that you have enjoyed wearing the watch, rather than it sitting in a box. I once heard it described as each mark having some significance to a place or time - and I kind of like that.

Hey paolo - firstly the 243 looks great on you. Secondly, I have little scratches on all my watches - the all polished 000, the partly brushed/polished 233 and Planet Ocean. I too can get a bit anal about the scratches, but I tend to agree that it detracts from the enjoyment if you are babying the watch and keep it in the safe. Like others have said, treat it as character...

On Titanium it would be easy - I've successfully brushed out that type of mark from my 279. Ditto polished steel. Sorry dude, you gotta just grin and bear it |

i would definitely leave it alone... it's hardly noticeable and while it may be the first, it certainly won't be the last! Enjoy the watch....

Maybe its just my imagination but it seems like scratches on titanium fade away a bit over time

Thats why you can blend in a scratch with a glass fibre pen, making a kinda "new exposed colour" blotch, which then blends in after a week or so! |
