Would it be crazy of me if I...

Sold both my BLNR and 114060 and bought a IWC big pilot 5009 and Blancpain FF Bathyscaphe?

I’ve had the BLNR for a little over a year now and I wear it occasionally, certainly not daily. It still has some stickers on it and it’s practically brand new. I’m apprehensive to get rid of it because I know it would be nearly impossible to reacquire from an AD without a prolonged wait.

Then my recent purchase my 114060. I’ve had this one for a little over a month and I’ve worn it maybe a handful of times. It’s a beautiful watch and I think it’s great. I just don’t wear it as much as I probably should. This is my second go around owning this watch and I certainly think it’s a classic.

I guess it comes back to the name. They are Rolexes and with that everyone who sees me wearing one will know that they aren’t cheap and what they are. The Big Pilot although at 46mm has a huge wrist presence won’t be recognized unless someone is familiar with the IWC brand. Same thing with the Blancpain. Both under the radar pieces that I think are also classic and would possibly get more wrist time.

So you would go from two Rolex to no Rolex. I think it wouldn't be crazy. If you can pull of the Big Pilot I would definitely go for it, but I'd keep the BLNR instead of adding the Bathyscaphe, the design never really stuck with me. Best Luka

I wouldn't call you crazy. Just a maker of an immensely bad call!

I wouldn't do it. BLNR and Sub ND IMO are way better watches.

I’d keep the 114060, as you can wear it for any occasion. I wouldn’t necessarily call the Bathyscaphe or 5009 under the radar watches.

Yes I would, never really liked the BLNR and the FF beats the 114060 in all aspects.

You guys are right. I’m smitten by the Instagram pictures of the Blancpain sunburst dial. And I definitely want to add a big pilot. Looks like I’ll just start saving up *

If you have other Rolexes, that would be ok. But, but...If you are leaving Rolex, this may be a costly decision later on. I've done that before and find myself going back to Rolex. The difference is this time, if you decide to come back, sports model will be harder to acquire. Had Big Pilot before, got tired of it after a year. I realized I like bracelets more. But since you asked, you must scratch your itch. My vote is to go halfway and trade BLNR for BP. Never was a fan of FF. Good luck with your decision.

If you don't wear them, sell them and get something else. The difficulty of getting the BLNR and 114060 from an AD is overstated -- yeah, you'll have to wait a few months, but if you find a good AD (which can be done if you put in some effort), you'll be able to get them.

The FF has always been one of my favorites and is something I will add at some point in the future, and I just added an IWC and love it (regular Pilot because the BP is too large for my puny wrists). I've been getting away from Rolex recently -- there's an idea on the forum that Rolex is the be-all, end-all of watches, and that's just not true. There's a ton of brands out there that produce awesome pieces, don't be afraid to branch out.

I'd just sell the Sub for a FF, but not the Bathy tho.

I think you're crazy to even ask the question lol. Why would it be crazy to go for something YOU like?

Personally, I think it's stupid to label yourself crazy for doing something you like.

The Big Pilot is nice if you can pull off the size, I’d say keep at least one of your Rolexes and add it

I’d keep what you have and spend a little less time on the watch forums and Instagram. You’ve already owned the 114060 twice, and your concern over parting with the Batman is how long you’ll have to wait should you decide you want another one. Sounds to me like you are not ready to make a decision you’ll be comfortable with long term. Try wearing what have now more and decide later.

I do love the Big Pilot. I don’t think it’s entirely crazy, but if it were me I’d keep the BLNR.

Well, what makes you think that you will wear the big pilot or Blancpain more?

I know I’m not suppose to care but I wanna be truthful. The fact that they aren’t Rolexes means I could wear them anywhere anytime without judgment. I do work alongside those who make significantly less than I do and work just as hard at times as I do. I don’t want to give off a certain vibe unnecessarily. Plus I get unscheduled visits from my boss and his bosses, I just want to maintain a humble blue collar work mentality. Hard for me to do with a shiny BLNR on my wrist. A little easier to do with IMHO an under the radar FF or a big pilot that could be an over sized invicta to the normal person.

You say the BLNR and the Sub get occasional wear. What do you usually wear?
