Glidelock issue

Well, not really an issue, but just notice that the corner of my glidelock has been dented somehow (see pics), no idea how. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar issue?

It's just come back from a service at an independent, but only asked for a couple of surface scratches to be removed, that would take some serious grinding to take that edge off I would have thought?

Isn't that's a CNC machined part? Shouldn't dent. Can you take a pic from the inside?

Looks like whoever polished it probably got a bit overenthusiastic with a dremel.

It’s not dented, it’s been ground off!

CNC machined or not; steel will dent.

This does look like someone had too much fun with the artifex (graining) wheel

That does look like it was grinded.

Was it like that before the service, I would think you'd have noticed it? Upon closer look at your pictures, it appears both ends of clasp under the flip lock are ground down, looks like they weren't careful when polishing.

Wasn't like that before, well, if it was I never noticed, doesn't affect it, was just an interim service to re-lubricate an regulate it, not too bothered. Rolex will probably replace at the next full service in 2023 anyways, just wondered if it was a common thing?

Good grief. It looks like they made an expensive mistake, and all to get rid of a couple of scratches...

If your indie did it, don't you think they should pick up the tab? If Rolex replaces it, that won't be cheap.

Clearly looks like a mistake was made when they polished the clasp. I would reach out and ask that they replace it. A reputable shop would stand behind their work. I would hope so anyway. I'm glad it doesn't bother you. When I scratch my piece it doesn't bother me nearly as much when someone else does. Can't hurt to ask. Good luck!

Not overly concerned as the service was brilliant apart from that, and cheap

Cheap is as cheap does. I would consider that damage a dealbreaker.

Well, didn't ask to touch the case but he did a good job of taking hairlines of the sides anyway

Not cheap if the clasp has to be replaced ...

I get that you're not concerned but maybe you should be? Certainly don't want to tell you your business but this impact value and replacement by Rolex is not going to be a cheap proposition.

Just my 2 cents ...

I concur, it looks like a grinding/polish accident rather than a dent.

Nice to see that the OP isn't overly concerned with it. Most of us would have a small fit.

OK, a large fit.

Not acceptable. If someone did this to my YG Sub, do you have any idea the $$ to replace that in 18K? They would be picking up the tab with Rolex, not me!

Yeah lol, I get how most of you wouldn't be happy, but honestly this is a watch that I don't mind denting and scratching up, it's a tool after all.
I took it in for regulation, as it was -7s and now it's +0.5s, turns out the rate was due to the lack of lubrication, so he fully serviced and re-lubricated the movement, plus took the scratches out of the bracelet, all for £100. Now, I was expecting to send it back to Rolex at the 10 year point (2023), so pretty happy it will now last accurately until then, happy to pay the full service price then.
It may need a new clasp, but it would only be due asthetically, it doesn't affect it functionally, providing it's accurate and functionally sound I'm happy

Really? They're designed to be as robust as possible and was the military precursor to the G-Shock, tough as they come. I don't see it as a piece to be kept pristine, just my opinion obviously

I'm sure you know clasp replacement won't be covered in the service price. Basically, if you don't get the indie to compensate you, you'll either pay through the nose to correct the damage they did, or live with it for as long as you own the watch - and take a hit on resale if you ever part with it. If you're OK with that, that's your call. I certainly wouldn't be. Even if I treated the watch as a beater and were OK with scratches and dings acquired through "honest" use, that grind mark just screams of carelessness and hack work (as well as dishonesty, since they surely knew they did it and didn't own up) such that I would get angry every time I looked at it.

That looks like it would take a significant amount of time on the polisher to achieve that amount of removed material!

The more time I spend with it, the more I don't notice it, another war story for the Sub
