Lots of people are complaining about lack of stock at ADs...but.....

....too much choice can also be a problem!

I’ve had a yearning for an Explorer for a while now. Popped into two of “my” ADs today. Both had decent stock, but all I came home with was a conundrum...

I could have both the BB58 and this 41 for slightly less than the price of the Explorer.

I tried a nice IWC as well

Not sure what to do...

GMT II 116710LN, the most underrated watch Rolex make imo.

otherwise the sub no date is an iconic classic that will always look good on any occasion.

Enjoy the "deciding" time. Its just the best thing!

I'd almost lean towards the 58 and MK18 if you like the white dial and think it will get some wrist time. Perhaps a different color dial on that one might be worth a look.

Tough to argue against the Explorer, but that blue Tudor is so nice and clean....tough choice!

Given what's in your collection (thinking of the black dial WG GMT and Tudor GMT), I'd probably go for the blue Tudor.

Or, if you are interested in the IWC Mark XVIII, I'd go for the blue dial on bracelet instead of that white...such a gorgeous bracelet.

Good luck and can't wait to see the incoming!

Just get the Explorer you were wanting. I can guarantee that you will be wanting it more the moment you walk out with another piece.

Why do you think it's underrated? And do you mean it as if it's a good thing (easily avalable) or a bad thing..

I think it's underrated because nobody talks about it. Lots of people focus on Sub or GMT with color. The 116710LN is personally one of my favorites. It wears very comfortably and the bezel looks really nice under different lighting. I actually use the second time zone quite a bit.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll find one you're going to love!

That is pretty good stock Clive, good on you for walking away without anything...not sure many of us on here would have been able to do the same.

I think I'd fork out the extra bit of dough for the no date sub. Had an explorer 39mm, WG numerals, and I liked it, but I always preferred wearing my sub so I sold it.

YMMV!

Thanks Larry. I had taken my hangover with me to the ADs (nice to give it an outing). Possibly why I couldn’t decide.

It’s highly likely that this is what I’ll do. I just want to sleep on it first.

I already have my old TT Sub from 1986, and I honestly feel that my modified GMT LN kills a number of birds with one stone....including the 114060 and the SD4K.

As an aside....I know that people love the glidelock. I have very flat wrists and have always found the clasp to be too long for comfort.

I will try the 114060 on again though....just to be sure.

Good problem to have! If the ND sub is in play, I'd go for that.. otherwise, while I'm typically in the less is more boat, I like the variety of the two pieces (tudor and iwc) rather than the exp.

Is that a green date wheel??? I've thought about trying a roulette date wheel on mine... I know a lot of people don't like modding their Rolex and look down on it, but honestly, do what you like! You paid for it!

Oh, and I would go for the BB58. I have small, flat wrists, and I think it would be a great sized watch, and pretty cool looking, too.

I have a BB36 (black dial) which I love. If you are into the maxi-ish dial and hand style of the black bays I think the 36/41 are the best... without the bezel it’s alllllll dial. Feels a little more rugged and less dressy to me than the Explorer although I’m not really sure why I feel that way. Here’s a shot of mine in Ireland a few months ago

Yes, it’s a green date wheel. I know it’s not for purists, but I love this modified watch.

I love my first (and only) Tudor, a GMT. I can’t help but feel that the BB58 might be slightly redundant. I have my old TT Sub on leather, which is sort of like having the original motivation for the 58...

Yeah, with that Sub you've got that covered. Go for the Explorer. I've always fancied the 3-6-9 dials...
