"they" are buying them from you at probably 6k so don't get your hopes up (if you own one)

get a quote if you don't believe me... its going to be awful though so thats not a good route. At the end of the day its worth what someone will buy it for and you have to price less than them as they are a business with a reputation and you are just some guy.

Its terrible to be a buyer I agree, but its not as great as it looks to be an individual seller either

they offered me $20k USD less for a 5712 than they are selling one for and the one they have is 4 years older and not under warranty and yes the offer was quite a bit under retail. So no one in their right mind should actually sell for their offers. Just saying spreads are really, really, really bad so don't look at a selling price and assume you can get that much or anywhere close to that. FWIW that one is more in demand and astronomically harder to get than a hulk.

I feel like the dealer spread is around 20% of the average Chrono24 price. I guess that’s the cost of doing business with someone you hopefully trust to make good on payment or not sell you a fake.

Maybe 6 is a little low, but I suspect you’d struggle to get much more than 7, esp with watchfinder who operate a large bid/offer spread. Bear in mind no eBay or chrono fees plus the fact you might struggle to sell a high value item as a private seller if you have little feedback with potential for scamming etc.

Watchfinder is known to be the worst people to sell your watch to price wise

london is an international city and lots of outside money. People are buying more because its "cheaper" so i agree they can ask more as its not really that much more if you don't pay in pounds.

thats new... that was not always the case. They outbid everyone every time until about a year ago

Prices go up and spreads go up more so your watch is actually worth less than last year generally

It may well indeed be - i understood the lower end of the quote to be the direct sale price and the upper the part ex so that makes sense if you aren’t getting anything off them.

I find it can vary with them. I’ve had some real low balls, but occasionally something that seems pretty reasonable such as when I sold them my Tudor gmt (above retail) and Daytona (not far off the grey price at the time).

I have found mark worthington sometimes gives a higher quote but obvs that is not as convenient for some.

Besides the Hulk, the "mythical" discontinued rumors of the Batman is causing prices to become comparable to the steel Daytona now.

Watchfinder highest price for a brand new BLNR has been £11,150 for a good few weeks now. Hasn't moved.
They seem to be the most expensive of the greys.
They also have more BLNR stock.in now than a few weeks back.

They quoted £8500 for my 2017 LVc a month ago and a mate sold his year old BLNR to them a couple of weeks ago for £8500. They sell them £2500-£3000 more. As bad as they are, £6000 is on the low side.

their offers tanked recently like this month. I would check again. Multiple people have reported the same thing about december offers coming in way way low for Rolex... my only personal data point the 15.5k GBP buy/sell spread i mentioned and its a harder to source watch than the Rolex's

To be fair, I actually did ask an indicative price on my DJ41 today before this conversation and it was low (I have an itchy trigger finger by a speedy ultraman). So there is definitely some truth in that as they have no blue ones so assumed they might be interested.

Suffice to say I’ll be adding if I do rather than trading.

One other thing to add is that offers are hugely low on watches that were previously bought though them.

ive heard that. Not applicable here.

Just a data point for the file more than anything to interested people ...as everyone always wants to know spreads.

i was shocked the first time SS sky dweller offers came in below retail and the white for sure has been that way for over a year with the black not far off (probably)

Absolutely. Nothing like using Christmas as an excuse though. Need funds - we’ll offer very low. Want to buy for Christmas - get your wallet out.

We can complain, but they’ve got the model right for now and are clearly selling so we’ve just got to suck it up I guess.

It travels better than the LN too as the lack of PCL's mean it doesnt get beat to hell on flights as overnight ones are particular brutal

Unfortunately people are consistently paying it and suckers are making the market.

The amount of new grey dealers that have popped up in the last year or so is unbelievable. Many operate just over social media and deal exclusively in Rolex, AP and Patek. They have spotted an opportunity, willingness to buy which has been perpetuated by social media and bought up the bulk of AD and circulating supply.

Ha ha - I’m sure you do - it’s a fantastic watch.

Yep - the jubilee for me is the best bit. Keeps it looking pristine.
