Sea-Dweller Pairs Well With a Suit

I’d still like to have a thinner dress watch some day soon, but the SD43 actually goes pretty darn well with a suit.

Looks great! Excellent size for you.

It's basically a grown-up Sub. An AD sales guy I talked to last week was wearing a Deep Sea JC with his suit. He said he there were no problems fitting the watch under his cuffs. SD43 will fit even better.

In my opinion one of the most underrated watches Rolex currently produce. I had a sub and the SD43 just feels perfect in regards to proportions & feel on the wrist! regularly wear mine with a suit and always looks class, dont think ill ever get tired of mine!

Looks great! One of my personal favourites.

Seen so many "bankers" in HK with the S-D ("old" and new). One of my friends, high up in the hierarchy at one of the big investment banks, always wears is S-D to work = obviously in his working environment a suit/shirt is your standard attire. :)

Cheers,
Joe

I agree! Most of the SD43s I have seen are with rolled-up sleeves and t-shirts. Nice to see what the diver looks like dressed up!

Looks good. I tried with a suit but it was just too thick. Hiding it under also created some rub marks on the sleeve. It's a fantastic watch for outdoor activities though.

I've never bought into the dress watch/sport watch controversies.

Wear what you want with whatever you want. Back in the 1940-1960s almost all watches were basically 'dress" watches. People wore them doing everything. Then the Bond thing happened.

"Under the sleeve" seems soooo last century.

Nice outfit, OP.

Not a ton of room but there is enough. I’ve been wearing it all day so far and my cuff slides up over it easily.

The watch is very nice, but it is not the best example for wearing with a suit.

Looks great. I frequently wear mine with a suit. When I have my shirts tailored I will ask for him to move the left cuff button slightly to allow a watch more room under the cuff. Usually it is somewhere around a quarter inch based on the shirt and how far he thinks he can move it without it being noticeable. It makes a big difference.

My french cuff shirts I typically have made through a company online and they have an option for a Watch Allowance as well that will open up one of the cuffs slightly to allow for a larger watch.

Great watch, great suit, wrong combination IMHO. I never did it with my SD43, not even with a dressy YM pt dial. Proper dress watch or nothing.

In my view, no watch with a prominent bezel (eg ceramic) looks good with a suit.

Wear it above the wrist bone and it will look even more stunning that how it already does:-)
I’ve pictures.
Here’s mine under cuffs, fits seamlessly.

Something I've discovered a while back is that dress shirt cuffs need to be adjusted for watches. Any competent tailor (even Nordstrom's alterations department) will tell you that you need to bring your watch to a shirt fitting so that the position of the button(s) can be adjusted for the correct fit.

Not to be too much of a perfectionist, but for those who wear multiple watches of different sizes, there will need to be certain dress shirts that can only go with certain watches.

Luckily, I only wear one watch... So, all my dress shirts are adjusted to one size.
