That's not a good price here in the US. I've seen them listed here on TRF and over on VRF, with box and papers, for less than that.
But I have heard that pricing in the UK is higher than here. I'd still pass. For that price, you could get a nice example with b&p AND pay for the plane fare/hotel costs to fly somewhere and pick it up.

IMO it's not that bad a price to be honest it, as some London dealers will easily ask north of 7G complete. All really depends on either a: How long you are prepared to wait and B: B&P being a deal breaker for you. If i were you i'd look a little more or even fire Tom an email(he's usually v quick in replying) and see if he'd yield a little.

Seems like a decent example.
A few hundred less and it's a good enough deal IMO. |

I've been looking for the exact same model for a couple years but haven't saved enough, yet. I would expect to pay as much as $9,500 in the US for a 1997 and maybe as low as $8,000. I say this with the thought that the higher price would be for a used watch in very good condition and the lower price for a bit more wear and tear.

No, it's not. Tom Bolt's site has it listed for $9555.43 in US dollars. A quick search of the TRF For Sale section brings up a number of recent listings for 16523s that are noticeably cheaper:
1) Slate dial, U serial with a $7800 asking price sold last month after being listed for 2.5 weeks. 2) Black inverted 6 dial, S serial with boxes, papers and hangtags appears to still be available for $8500. 3) Another slate dial listed in December for $7100. No f/u status as to whether it sold or not. 4) White dial, U serial with boxes and papers listed at $8000 in September, sold in December. 5) Champagne inverted 6 dial, N serial with all boxes, papers and hangtag listed at $7950 in May. Dropped down to $7600, with last listing of "bump" in August. As I stated previously, for the amount the OP is considering, he could pick up a complete 16523 set and get a short vacation here in the States included. The values for 16523s are not going to increase dramatically any time soon, if ever. They've never been in demand, especially compared to SS 16520s, so the OP can be patient and pick up his desired 16523 configuration at a better price in the near future.

as an owner of a 16523, i second fusionstorm's post above. somehow, i see that prices of 16523 are so much lower in the US. elsewhere, even here, they do seem to command much higher asking prices. what it really sells for is anyone's guess though.
