The dial surely is and that is the only thing that make a RANGER - sorry dude. Hands are wrong too - other pics don't help (and won't make much difference)

The problem is that the dial is entirely fake.

I've been looking at these "Rangers" for some time with a view to buying one. The trouble for me has been that it is like negotiating a mine field, and with so little concrete, bomb proof information on them on the inter web, they are difficult to research. If I were to buy one it would only be from an "expert" seller, with an impeccable record or someone with evidence they had it from new. My 2 cents worth

Another fake I'm afraid....

I would now personally only buy one if I could hold it in my hand and loupe it. The fake dials are nothing like the real thing once magnified. The whole Ranger thing is a nightmare. I've owned a real beauty and been offered and seen many many fakes!

Ross :)

That wasn't the only thing with the dial - other issues too. The hands were also wrong - sorry but at least you did not buy it (I hope). Sadly someone paid just shy of $1200

There are a few Rolex watches its not worth the pain to search for. The ranger, red or otherwise and the 5500 explorer. Most are chop jobs out outright fakes

I don't know if it is not worth it - just really hard. About 1 out of 20 Rangers is a real one - though none of them would be a Red Ranger. Eliminate the Reds and one out of 5 might be legit

Would be real hard to say how many 5500 Explorers though - would original slip/box/papers state just 5500? Not 5500 explorer?
