Opinions?

I know the old timers won’t be a fan but I’m looking for opinions. My next watch I’m looking for is more something I would wear a few times a year for special event. Keep in mind I do work in the entertainment industry. Originally I was planning to get the day date with diamond bezel and baguette hour markers on a black face. Definitely flashy but also not to over the top. But then my AD busted this out last time I was there and I’m torn. It’s definitely not as wearable but something about the rubies really just call my name. I also have multiple pendants that contain rubies so it’s very easy to match. Another issue I have though is ads are asking for around 70 k tax in for the diamond dial. (CDN) but one the grey market you can find a ton of them at around 55. It would probably be the only time I would consider not buying from a AD. Then when considering the Ruby bezel I start to worry that in a years time I may be able to find one on chrono for a extreme amount less wich would hurt bad! Especially because it’s such a high number to begin with. A couple % on 70k is one thing but on 150 it’s a lot different. Just curious what you guys think thanks

I could never wear that, but I admire it for what it is. If you have the ability to pull that off, go for it.

Love it. Looks great. If you can afford it and it’s not a daily driver then get that in a heartbeat compared to the other option you’ve given.

That's definitely on the bling side but if you are in the entertainment industry, I could see it.

That being said, I like your first choice a better. I'm not a diamond bezel guy but I qualify as an "old timer", lol. Get a Day Date II in the larger size with stones on the dial. Classier bling without being over the top.

Also a good plan to go grey and save the money at that price point.

Post pics when you get something.

My opinion on buying something for a couple of times a year to perhaps impress, would be to not drop large amounts of money on flashy bling (or trashy bling) but instead put the money into something more unique horology-wise like a Freak or a De Bethune which may go completely over the head of starlets and wannabees but would attract attention of a different strata, if attention is your goal.

De Bethune has some incredible watches, as does a number of other high horology designers like Greubel and Forsey, etc

That’s pretty horrible, IMO. But it’s your wrist.

If that’s the watch that speaks to you, then go for it. In that price range everyone will have their own preference. I’d probably go for a Patek grand complication piece. If you’re in the entertainment industry and you want to impress, maybe consider going for a Richard Mille, which seems to be the hot watch at the moment. Whatever you choose, I suggest you buy something that brings you a lot of enjoyment to wear.

Yeah, I may have slid over his budget a bit, but I was attempting to show some options other than gems in a sports watch.

Try a gold sky dweller if you’re still open to options.. huge chunk of your gold on your wrists. I haven’t seen one with diamonds though, if that’s a necessity for you.

If this fits in your crowd and you have the funds why not... I'd rather have diamonds but if it matches your other stones then go for it.

Completely depends on your personal style and taste. Judging by your username, my guess is you are in the Atlanta/ South and in that case, that watch would definitely be in good style. Diamonds or Rubies either way! I would go with it. My personal preference would be just diamonds

A Patek, AP, Breguet, FPJourne, etc., would say you've got it and you have the class and wisdom to do it again. Bling doesn't give that message for me, it may not for others as well.

Cant believe I'm saying this, but I like that pave and ruby piece. Kinda grows on you.
