I like the idea, of living together and keeping things separate, and Yes, I just caught myself...

Really, do what you makes you happy, and if divorce is it, then do it.

As far as OP, I'm not giving advice anymore to anyone. I would just say, keep an open mind because you could be causing the problems in the relationship either knowingly or not...

Not giving advice is---> Relief!

So your wife was unhappy with the expensive watch hobby you have and decided the way to get around it would be to join you?

Haha I could never see my wife doing the same thing. But better for the wallet it's only one of us

Dude..... divorce is expensive plus she'll get half of your collection.
Its cheaper to buy her a nice watch or jewelry.

Wife or Rolex

If you’re asking Rolex wins! A word of advice girls in their 20s can be annoying. Try for late 20s early 30s

Notice I said significant other and not wife? 16 years into this relationship and no plans of marriage. No interest in legally dividing my assets or hers. She has her bank account, and I have mine. It works well- and we stick together because we want to, not because we have to or are legally bound to do so.
Love this. I just don't understand the benefit into turning a relationship into a legal one.

Between my collection and all my wife’s jewelry and bags, we are probably about even. Actually, she’s probably ahead.

Age doesn't matter they can be annoying until they're 90. Been divorced for 19 years and some of the best years of my life. Do want I want, buy want I want, go where I want and no complaining about anything... Sometimes I talk to myself but theirs never an argument or whining. This is the life I choose and I'm happier than a pig in mud... Rolex wins, just put her on my wrist and it just tells me the time, that's all I want.. Just my .02.

This is what a happy marriage sounds like to me.

Not some guy that says “happy wife happy life”

I’ve never understood that saying and to be honest, I hope I never do

Hahaha

I don’t see it as something material coming between them, I see it as her threatening his freedom

Got divorced years ago, and just got remarried. She doesn't try to control me, is excited when I get a new watch, and is my best friend. I would never have remarried if it was any other way. Also, the prenup specifically says I keep all my stuff including watches. Learned my lesson there too after losing half my stuff the first time!

Me either.. should be happy couple happy life... not happy wife miserable husband. Life is too damn short to deal with stress and that is what they give you.. Some may be lucky with a good loving and understanding wife...but that's rare now a days..

I am not an expert...

But is seems like she is just being controlling and you’re totally buying into it

I’m a math teacher tho, so I could be totally wrong

Nice

I appreciate the freedom that I heard in your writing

What is it with all these men being controlled by women and thinking that it is okay?

Imagine men did that to women?

Then we would have a march from NY to CA

I just don’t get it
