Can you tell me about my Grandfathers watch?

I inherited this watch about a decade ago, but it didn’t have a band so it found its self in a drawer until recently. I came across it in said drawer and decided to buy a cheap band and start wearing it out every once in a while. Now that I have worn it out a few times the thought has crossed my mind that I may be risking more than I’m willing to. I have tried to look it up by serial number, but the number has been worn off. I’m not sure why I think this but in my mind it was made in the 1950s. Can anyone give me more info on it from these few pictures? One of the pictures is of what is left of the model and serial number. I am also interested in any shops in the denver area that might be able to clean it up for me.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

It's a 6332 Why do you say the serial is worn off. The serial is 979154

Late 1953 probably.

Model number is on the opposite side and also inside the caseback.

Does the dial say SWISS at the bottom under 6:00 o'clock?

Immediately recognizable as 6332, as R.W.T. specifies. Distinctive case has flat sides instead of rounded contour. Cool piece!

I said serial number when I meant model number. Below the 979154 it looks like it says “model” and then it’s rubbed out and it ends in an “SE”.

It does not say Swiss on the bottom of the dial.

Thanks so much for the info I’ll do a little more research.

The reference number is on the other side of the watch from the serial number. Between the other lugs. The print that is obscured says MODELE DEPOSE (i.e. registered design).
