GMT Watches

Don’t think I’ll get a GMT at retail this side of about 2050 due to them being the money makers for flippers (selfishly wish it wasn’t the case so more people that actually like them could get hold)

I like and always have liked the idea of a GMT watch, the tangible altering of the bezel speaks to my inner child.

Just wondered what other GMT watches people have here that they would recommend, I’d even be open to a quartz movement in the right watch.

Thanks

Gus

Seiko has a good bit of great GMTs. I got a 16710 before the grey market madness, but would go for a Seiko if I did it again today. Tudor’s offering is solid as well, but a bit large.

I love the GMT complication. I have to travel for work and use it quite often. Wish I bought a GMT Master but oh well.

Here are several alternatives. Explorer II should be easier to get and you get the same jumped hour GMT. The VC Dual Time is obviously a much higher end watch than a Rolex GMT Master II, but at one point they were the same price in the secondary market, which makes no sense. The GS is not mine but that dial is super nice. Notice that except the Tudor, the other ones here don’t have a rotating bezel and therefore can’t track 3 time zones if that’s important to you.

Great suggestions too Jmaster! In all honesty I fancy going away from rolex for an out and out GMT watch love the VC and the colour of the GS dial too.

I love the JLC geographic. Doesn’t check the rotating bezel box for you i guess not even technically a GMT but i think its a great dual time watch and a ton of bang for your buck.

Nice watch and worth the price point for sure, but for the price point I’d probably consider other options.

I remember the master compressor GMT a few years back, lovely watch.
Do have a real fancy for a JLC dress watch in the collection

Picked this up almost a year ago. It's from about 2006. Omega 2534.50. Still like it! That said, seems like everyone is releasing a GMT watch this year.

Tried posting pictures of my Omega GMT but I don’t have enough posts yet. But the black and white bezel Omega GMT is hot.

Check out the microbrand, Monta. http://montawatch.com

They have some very nice, Swiss made, GMT references. Their Atlas model is a fixed bezel GMT for a bit less than your price range. Their Skyquest is a little bit more but with a rotating bezel. The bracelets are very nice, too.

I’m trying to decide which one of these I’m going to buy myself.

Tudor would be my pick if I wanted it to function similar to a Rolex.

5164 would be my ideal choice, but you’ll have an even harder time buying one from an AD

GMT is the most useful complication i seek on a watch.

Just like Jmaster above, I opted for the VC overseas due to its versatility & beauty.

The new GMT from Parmigiani is also stunning (just no day/night indicator which is a miss for me)

Lovely finishing and movement but at that price point I’d rather have a used VC overseas.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Monta Skyquest! I took some pics, I’ll post an “incoming” thread.
