Lange ADs

Hi all. What happened to all the ADs in US? Seems the few remaining non boutique ADs haven’t had any stock for months/past year. Are they going boutique only? Are the remaining ADs going to be cut too?

Do any of the ADs out there still even get/have pieces?

For example, shreve and co is still listed on ALS website as AD but they don’t have any pieces and the shreve co website doesn’t even list that they carry ALS

I’ve noticed ADs in New York do not - strongly suggest you work with a boutique, especially if you’re trying to build a relationship and all of that.

So for clarification, when you say "in-house boutique" you mean a store run by an established AD but reserved solely for ALS(?).

Like Rolex does.

I don't think we mean ALS is going to actually run and operate the stores as if buying directly from ALS.

Almost all ALS are now pre-order only so very few will be found in the window of either boutiques and ADs. That way ALS avoid sticking stock being discounted by ADs. They can ban that practice in boutiques as the contract is tighter. Most desirabel models are now boutique only and prior-purchase (e.g. Lange 1 or Saxonia) required for many - Datograph, Zeitwerk date, 1815 chrono etc.

If Lange only produces 5-6k watches annually, it would make since to use the boutique only concept.

We have a Lange AD in Houston. Their Lange showroom is stocked with many different models. I have seen Zeitwerk/Saxonia/Lange 1s in their display cases. To be fair, this AD also has showrooms for every other Richmont brand so they might be different than the old standalone ADs.

That AD is considered an official boutique according to ALS even though they're basically just an AD with a special showroom for ALS and other Richemont brands.

To clear up some of the understandable confusion -- or maybe to create more of it -- here's the current status in the US unless things changed very recently:

(1) There is only one Lange AD in the US: Wempe in NYC. And unless Wempe recently received more inventory, they have only one watch in stock, a Little Lange 1 in rose gold with a colored guilloche dial (can't recall which one). They had that same lone watch for months.

(2) All other Lange points of sale in the US are boutiques. No exceptions to that. No Lange ADs other than Wempe NYC.

(3) Four of Lange's US boutiques are owned and operated by retail partners, not directly by Lange. Those "partner boutiques" are in Aspen (Meridian), Chicago (Burdeen's), Houston (Zadok), and Las Vegas (Bellusso). That's where some of the confusion lies. These "partner boutiques" are called "boutiques," not ADs.

(4) Lange's website showing US points of sale might not be accurate/updated.

This helps. Thanks.

Does this mean that for those not geographically living near any of the above locations, they can now only buy an entry level Lange online?

How does this work now?

You can still buy from a boutique or via Lange's phone number even if you're physically distant. No need to purchase in person.
