When you say "we all had a good at them".. Was that privately? I don't seem to find your previous thread with this insert.

He mentioned posting dial and hands, not insert. This thread maybe.

It has already been called bleached and aftermarket in a few of the posts.

Who's this Xeramic guy, does he know his stuff? I'd like his opinion on this insert please.
Currently 50% on here think aftermarket 50% original.

George, spend some time on the net and do some research on your own. Here is a thread on GMT inserts to get you started and a couple photos to help you out..

Had a few guys asking for enlarged photos.

Just from the little I have observed this insert snaps beautifully into the bezel just like the originals I have. I have tried the flex test and its really stiff and hard not bendy like an after market.

I put it on here as a bit of a giggle, it was cheap and obviously damaged but I like the colours. I instantly thought it was eighties but was surprises people thought it was aftermarket.

Always interested in a debate.

Thanks for the input all who have taken their time to comment.

Thanks Steve

I would recommend you snap pictures of the entire insert, front and back.

TBH I'm beginning to think this is the same insert I have on the FS section (link for the sake of shameless self promotion https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=874824) There is no doubt however that it has been chemically altered

Not the same one obviously, the same type !!

It has also been called authentic in some posts. I'm surprised there isn't a consensus on this.

Conclusions

In conclusion.....

Most people think it is not a fuchsia.

Most people think it is original Rolex and not an aftermarket insert.

A few think its early 80's possibly 16750.

Several think its bleached.

1 thought it should be put in the bin but that comment was excluded for obvious reasons.

Thanks for all the contributions. S

Would love something a little more conclusive than that. We’ve got respected members claiming it’s authentic, and respected members claiming it’s aftermarket. It’s frustrating, and concerning, that this is still not an exact science.

The original question is about correctness of a fuchsia insert on a Mk2. I think these should not have fuchsia inserts and would expect to see a fatter font insert with blue and red coloring.

OP's and my insert side by side. My insert came with a 1675 I bought from an impeccable source some 15 years ago. I have never had cause to question it's authenticity. I would suggest that the OP's insert is authentic but has been chemically altered. Thoughts from aftermarket camp?

My nicer

Mine is much nicer ha ha !!

and for sale too!!

Seriously to end on a more positive note, here is the little fella with his original jacket on from 1972 and 7836 bracelet.

I know this one is original because it was my dads watch and it was lost in the loft for years.

again thanks for all the contributions. Steve not George

I dont know David, I see slight differences between yours and his. I agree with yours being genuine. If there are clear macros Im sure we can all agree on what his is.

As Swaini said, sharp macros of each digit would help a lot picking a side !

Not up to date with all aftermarket inserts versions but don’t remember having seen this one before…
