Snowflake dial on a quartz watch?
Just noticed a new release on the GS website
https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/stgf359g That looks like the snowflake dial. Interesting that GS is using it in a far more affordable 9F quartz, which looks like a ladies model given the 29mm case diameter. I think it's a beautiful watch and a very reasonable price point, but I am a little surprised that the snowflake dial is being used... I always associated that dial as being very premium and loupe-tastic. Maybe this line of thinking is flawed. |

That watch you linked to is listed as part of the Heritage Collection because Seiko has been making Snowflake dials since the early 1970s. During that decade they put some of their most impressive dials on their higher-end quartz pieces like King and Grand Quartz and Superiors, because they cost several times more than a mechanical King or Grand Seiko. They even put Snowflake dials on some medium-high-end models like my 4803-8010 here, from 1976 . . .
