If I was in the market, I'd take one of these over the Platona all day, every day. No contest.

Agree. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice, but it doesn’t command that price to me.

The upcoming stainless steel SBGY007 can be had for about 1/10 of the price and it’s similar enough in specs. Get on the waiting list now.

Beautiful but way out of my price range. Glad GS is releasing the more attainable SBGY007. But, as beautiful as the SBGY007 is, I honestly wish they would have the SBGY005 a part of the regular catalogue instead of having it as a 22 piece limited edition.
With that said, it looks like GS is listening to what the people want and creating Spring Drive heritage models without the power reserve on the dial. ie. SLGA007
Won't be long before GS release more models with different dials.

Rose gold and 40k and I would’ve strongly considered. Why does every sbgz have to be platinum???

Engraving on the Platinum like that is tough. Movement looks amazing as well.

It's beautiful.... But I wish the platinum case wasn't so "engraved.". I appreciate it but not my style. What a ridiculous dial and finish on the movement though.

Appreciate the artistry, love the dial, the aesthetic of the engraving doesn't appeal though. Still, the price seems reasonable, considering every one of those grooves has to be hand polished after grinding.

I agree with this, I can live without the engraving, though I appreciate it's craftsmanship. It's just not my thing though.

$$$$$$$$ go to the special art work on the case, Rolex won’t even do the fluted bezel on the platinum.

It's obviously a wonderful watch, but 79,000 smackers?
There maybe an element of 'the Kings New Clothes' here....I mean if I showed friends that, and told 'em what I'd paid, "for a Seiko" they'd ask why I hadn't bought a PP.
Can someone explain?

Perhaps, ......if I saw it in the flesh?

I get the same response from my friends about Rolex. I don't buy watches for their approval.

No, neither do I, but I take your point.

MY point being, that it doesn't look like a 70k watch...whether you're 'into' watches, or not.
