Planet Ocean 8900 - are markers WG?

Are the hour markers, second hands, and indexes on the Planet Ocean 8900 rhodium plated white gold?

I don't think so. I recall the first-generation Aqua Terra had markers made of white gold, and I believe some De Ville models still do, but I have never heard of this in the current Planet Ocean. Normally if they're white gold in a particular model then Omega will make mention of it in product materials.

Exactly my point. Omega doesn’t mention anything on the PO but they do on the ceramic version with the exact same dial….

I bet they are white gold on the PO as well.

I emailed Omega recently about this. My husband has a new PO and we wondered. The answer was that they are Rhodium.

I've been wondering the same for my 9900 Chronograph. Good to know now that they're Rhodium.

Every review on YouTube says white gold on the planet ocean.

Not sure why Omega doesn’t advertise as such.

Maybe Omega has more accurate info than YouTubers?

I called Omega and they would not disclose the material used.

I think they are gold hands and markers on PO but they did not want to position the PO steel as a lux watch. Change the case to ceramic and note the exact same dial is advertised as containing gold markers and hands.

As I mentioned above. We emailed Omega through the Omega web site. They answered back that the markers are rhodium. Some you tubers are wrongly saying that they are white gold.

Because they aren’t WG.

Rhodium > Platinum > Gold

So do you mean rhodium plated white gold?

Rhodium covered steel or brass. I forget which on and recently deleted the email.

I'm fine with it as long as they don't tarnish over time (which they clearly won't). If I recall correctly they've been using that since applied indices have been used on the "Bond" 300M Diver in 2005 / 2006. I had a 2220.80 which was sold and a 2225.80 currently, which also has the Rhodium plated Brass.

No evidence of rhodium plated brass hands on PO anywhere.

Can someone with a parts list with prices confirm?

Maybe at this point you could email Omega like I did. Give them a model number and find out. I guess you think I’m not telling you what they told me and that I’m making this up. Good luck.

Sincere question: can someone say why it matters? Is it resistance to corrosion?
