Fine Art

I’ve recently become interested in fine art and would like to learn more. A lot can be learned through forums and I’d like to start there but can’t seem to find one. Although I am an economist the next recession is anybody’s guess but I’d like to know as much as I can to identify value when I see it.
Suggestions warmly welcomed.

Thank you!

A couple of University courses in Art History is how I did it. If you’re looking at acquiring for future profit then you might approach it as a venture capital exercise.

But if you’re wanting to collect and understand good work from poor work then I suggest a nearby university. You will be richly rewarded from the learning experience.

Buy what you like.

Fine art is like fine dining. If advertised, it rarely is.

I had to read that back to myself a few times. Very true.

Learn more in what terms? In as far as investment potential... as far as art appreciation?
It's a deep hole... far far deeper than any watch scenario.
One potential word of advice, buy quality. While paying more for something doesnt ensure value, you do need to spend money to make money.

If you can afford it spend a year in Europe visiting museums and palaces with competent guides. Nothing like seeing art in-situ.
