Pssst, wanna see a really thick strap?

Launch Mini posted some pix of his Greg Stevens strap a few days back. I shot a couple of pix of mine, that arrived the day before his (heh, heh, heh).

Look how thick this badboy is:

Please no more strap pictures! I'm going to have to buy more watches for all my extra straps!

You can always send a few this way for safe keeping, Mike. Then when I send them back, they'll seem all brand new again.

In your opinion, perhaps it does. That is why this hobby is great though... there is something for everyone. This is one of the most sought after straps among hard-core paneristi, so you, as a die-hard rolex guy may think its ugly but among the ones who get it, its as good as it gets.

Plus, it isnt sewn-in like so many keepers on straps, so it sits differently. I wasnt sure if I would like a floating keeper, but I quite like it.

They look awesome

Guys how do they wear tho? Do they feel heavy or bulky on the wrist? Maybe for me its not the best idea... might be too thick for me! But I sure like how they look.

Are Gabomagic's as thick as the crazy horse?

I think the CH is a tiny bit thicker than the Gabo.
Both are wonderful straps.
I don't think they would be too big for you.
THey are very comfortable. Only issue is with sleeves as there is about 8+mm on the underside of your wrist.

I put the Drunken Cobbler Gabo from Atomic on another watch while the Missus and Kids play silly buggers with the new Pam164 and it is really really comfortable. The fit is great much better than the bracelet on the sd and the leather does not dig in like steel does. The thickness is not a worry for me either (the flip lock on the sd is about 6mm).

I have an order in with Greg for a CH. Another wait, this is frustrating.

Yeh thats going to be a pain for me in general, as I had trouble with most of my sleeves with the GMT Master 2 and the profile of that watch is really low in comparison to the Panerai. I'll have to be careful with it when I get it, not too catch it on sleeves etc I can see how gatorgal lost her Rolex when trying on clothes, it's easy to tug at the watch with jackets.

Miner, you are going to love the CH if you like the Gabo.
I think I should be asking Greg for a discount on my next strap LOL

Judging by a recent email, Greg is swamped at the moment. Build time is 4 weeks, don't think I'll get it by Christmas.

I ordered a Greg Crazy Horse for my 112H mid November and got it about 3 weeks later.

Awesome strap. One of my favorite historic style straps.

The Gabo isn't nearly as thick as the CH. Comfortwise, the CH really is very comfortable, but it's not a strap I would wear with certain shirts because of the size... even with long sleeve Tshirts/sweatshirts it could be tight.

But the CH is very comfortable even when brand new, so I can only see it feeling better and better with time.

Cool, thanks Atomic - when the time comes I think I'll make my first historic type strap a Gabo then.... and see how I go with that. Have to say the exotic leathers appeal to me more than anything, those pythons, gator and creatures of the deep (shark, stingray etc) are really coool.

I'd also like a OEM Bright Red strap too...... red is my fav colour
