PAM510 Dial?

Hi,

So I dropped by a Panerai boutique and they let me try on a lot of the models and was overall very friendly. In particular the PAM00510 looked so good on my wrist I can't get it out of my head. The only thing that put me off was it had a cookie dial.

But when I look it up online now, there are PAM510 with the sandwich dials? But the one on Panerai website looks like cookie dial to me as I saw at the boutique. What's going on here?

So called the dealer and confirmed online that the sandwich dial was switched to sausage/cookie/painted dial in 2015 for the R series.. So I guess I have to look for P or Q series..

Yes, that's right. Sandwich reserved for more "upscale" models now. Personally, that's fine, as I prefer the sausage look for Luminors.

I am planning to get a 510 soon and was curious whether the R series is a flat painted dial or sausage dial which you have seen. My local AD doesn't have any stock and if I want, they will order for me. Just to be sure before I place an order. Thanks!

I am pretty sure that P series have sandwich dials, probably P series are the last generation.

Icon5 Pam 510

Couple questions. A well known and respected used watch dealer
is offering the PAM 510 for about $5,000 US. I love the look of this watch and thinking of adding it to my collection. Couple questions:
- Do current owners recommend this watch from a dependability standpoint? ie is it relatively accurate in the long run?
- The picture shown with the PAM 510 on their site is clearly the sandwich dial.
Has that been proven to be accurate as I love that design?
- Is the original band provided appear more black or brown when viewed in person? it appears black in the pic.
-Lastly, does anyone who has owned one since new have any general observations or opinions.
Appreciate any input. I know this model has been around for quite some time now but love its looks!

There have been 3 series of the 510 so far. P/Q have the sandwich dial. The R series is painted on. Different from traditional sausage. Most are unaware of this change. I had a deal in place for a 510 on this site. However after realizing it was the R series and non-sandwich I no longer wanted the watch. Jomashop is showing 510's with sandwich, but refuse to provide if the watch they are sending is infact a P or Q series. Because they would not confirm, I wasn't sending them close to $5k for the watch. In the end I decided I wanted the 111 more than the 510 and picked it up just the other day.

Have them confirm the series and the picture is of the actual watch for sale.

Did the J shop mention the 510 they carry is Q or R series?

Yes, noticed this recently as well. Really too bad, as the sandwich dial is very special.

Jomashop refused to provide me with if it was a P, Q, or R. Without giving me that info I was not buying the watch. I'm very happ with the 111 I purchased from DavidSW instead.
