need opinions from the experts: narrowed it down to 3 models

hello,
need opinions on the 3 models i have narrowed my quest down to:

choice 1 PAM 00000
choice 2 PAM 00112
choice 3 PAM 00005

other than astitics i am wondering what are the main differences? i.e. resale,
differences in movements, ect. thanks, todd

All three are ETA 6497 base movements.
000 and 005 do NOT have a swan neck regulator on movement. This just makes it easier for watchmaker to adjust watch timing. Properly serviced, it is fine.
112 has a swan neck regulator.
000 and 112 seem to have a stronger following as two handed Panerai seem to be more popular (IMHO).

If you buy any of them used, they'll all hold their value comparable to any other model.

For me..... 000 > 112 > 005

No wrong choice here.

If you like the sandwich dial, then your only choice is the 112. Othewise it's between the Base (000) and Marina (005) i.e. whether you want two hands or three hands

Personally I would take a 111 over all three, because it has the right features for me - three hands, sandwich dial, swan neck regulator, display back

Either 000 or 112 for me. But all three are very good choices in their own right. The 000 has gone up in price a bit at market price levels, so maybe the 112 is the "better" value now.

112 is the lowest pricing point used but in carefully worn condition.. mid 3k does it. All 3 are very nice starters!

Best,

Out of the 3 you have listed the 112 would be the one for me however I also would opt for the 111

I would (and did, so I am biased) chose the 005. I like the second hand and it just spoke to me more than the 111 when I tried them on. Really can't go wrong with any of them.

005.......its an easy decision. Although the 000 and 112 are both great watches, you will tire of them quickly. Most will tell you to buy these as your first Pams but very few end up keeping them for long simply because they are so plain.......Paneristis end up moving on to more intricate movements, styles or dials............that's just the way it is.

Regardless, as someone mentioned earlier, you can't go wrong...........just be prepared to flip quickly if you end up with a 000 or 112.

Good luck

Just so plain???? That is the entire point of Panerai. Simplicity.

I know tons of Risti's that keep their "boring" 112/176/000/001/etc.

And I know tons that flip them after a short while...........if simplicity is the entire point of Panerai, how do you explain the popularity of watches like the Bronzo, the Egi,the Subs, the GMTs, Chronos, Boutique Editions, LEs, SEs.......come on!!! We'd all like to hold on to the fantasy that owning a Panerai is about owning a simple, understated watch but the truth is many start with the basic ones but after a while (as I mentioned earlier), most move on to models that are bit more interesting.

Curious, what models do you own and what models have you sold/traded or flipped in the past????

Why's that........no good answer perhaps???? Its opinions man, no big deal......you have yours, I have mine. Just because you post a lot doesn't make your comments any more valid or carry more weight than someone else's. One can easily see what Paneristis are buying and flipping.

I bought a 416 as my first Panerai simply because it was everything I thought a Panerai should be.........Pig dial, vintage looking strap and patina, seconds sub-dial, Luminor model. To you, it might be too "busy" 'cause it has all those things.......just a matter of taste.

When you are ready to address this, please do

Buy what you like. Don't buy for resale. Despite what most folks will "say" on the forums, most lose money or barely break even when "flipping" in most cases. Buy it. Wear it. Enjoy it.

005 is painted dial.

In my opinion go for the 000.

I'm with Mik on this one, pal. A Panerai, per its DNA, is meant to be clean and simple. Period. I would adamantly disagree with your observation regarding 'risti's flipping their PAM's for more busy dials. Perhaps you could quantify this?

Buy what you like though.
