Speedy Hesalite Best Price at AD

Hi Omega watch aficionados,

I am interested in the Speedy Hesalite here in Canada. The MSRP is CDN$6,664 (taxes in). I already talked with an AD and the sales manager is willing to give me 17.5% off MSRP.

Do you guys think this is good enough or should I bargain for more? What do you guys think is best discount I could get?

The reason I am asking is because a my watch collector friend said I should ask for 25% discount.

Thanks in advance for your input/advice/comments.

You could buy on here for cheaper than that from trusted sellers. I've seen them here for around $3300ish new, as I am wanting to pick one up too. If you want to go through an AD, I wouldn't walk out with less than 20% off. They aren't exactly flying out the door.

That's not going to happen. $4400 sounds right at an AD. You know if AD matches TRF sellers then I think TRF sellers are over charging and should be selling it around $2700.

Check out the Omega Forums for some deals. Prices for some new models (but not the BaselWorld hotness) are ~$3500.

Jomashop doesn't include factory warranty cards, so if you need repair, you're SOL. Not to mention, the resale vale drops significantly.

It has to be a super deal in the US to make it worth while to ship to Canada.

$4400 usd = $5900 CAD
Plus duty & tax...depending on what province your in.
Alberta for example +$600
Ontario +$1100 tax

So your $4400 USD watch is now $6500 - $7000 CAD....plus any shipping and brokerage fees. Not to mention alot of people refuse to ship to Canada to begin with.
Goodluck : )

If you sell your watch after the warranty period what difference does it make and Jomashop has the same if not longer in house warranty. Not many folks have had any issues including me. I also think they will ship to Canada.

if you ever decide to resell the watch, it is, for all intents and purposes, a naked watch. No matching warranty card equates to about a 10-15% dip in resale value, if not more.
Besides, jomashop technicians aren't Omega certified, nor do they have an Omega parts account. If it needs parts, are you content with having an aftermarket part installed?

Yes it does change things for sure. Unless u want to roll the dice and try to bring it over without declaring it. Not something i'd recommend.

Here's a link to the governments duty and tax calculator in-case anyone needs it.

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-vo...t-cal-eng.html

When i brought my D-blue in from Germany I was nailed pretty much to the dollar what this calculator spit out....so it's accurate. Although depending on the agent they can reduce it....but it should never be more. At least you can see worst case what it would cost.

Got it. To each his own I guess. If my watch ever was broken, which not one has ever had a problem in warranty time period I would just take it to a "that brand" tech and pay to get fixed.

It was just an option for the OP.

I didn't see him being a jerk in anyway...just another public lesson on Jomashop...he's right on everything he said, no manufacturer warranty and no oem parts if you decide to use their "warranty." Also the resale is lower without original warranty/papers. If you have regular competitive trusted sellers/grey sellers IMO there is no need to use Jomashop since the sellers here or on Omegaforums etc would sell new pieces with a factory warranty.

Indeed. Jomashop is cheaper for a reason and I've realized the same savings with TSs right here on this forum.

Buy from a trusted seller or even pre-owned. These watches are meant to be worn and can be easily serviced for $350-$400ish anytime. BTW - Enjoy!!!
