Resale on my FF is 50% of list. Trade, if anyone will take it, will obviously be less. So it's a great watch to keep.

Yea FF is like an Omega diver. A lot of watch for the money and built beautifully with an outstanding movement. That said, like an Omega, you buy them pre owned in like new or you will be killed in trade if you don’t keep it forever. I think the FF would be a perfect complement to a Rolex as it is so different in every way. Great “strap watch” with a great “bracelet watch”.

My sentiment is the opposite of this. BPs don't seem to be too hard to come by & those in like-new condition are well under MSRP on cursory research. I'd rather hold onto a Rolex & pay for a BP later, rather than sell a Rolex to fund a BP. I'd been briefly looking at the 38mm Bathyscaphe, but quickly got over that itch.

I would buy the 50 if it was possible without losing the LV. Your watch, your call.

Well said! Most folks here only consider the value but not the joy of wearing the watch.

I own a Bathyscaphe 43 all ceramic and a Fifty Fathoms 45 titanium. They are my everyday pieces and I love to travel with them. They are very useful pieces.

That being said, I would not sell my Kermit LV to finance those watches. Add them if you like them, but keep the sub LV..

If you plan on keeping the FF, then value doesn’t matter. But if there’s a possibility that you will flip it, than you will be flushing $5k down the toilet.

The Blancpain AD offered me a 16% discount to buy the watch. This offer got me thinking about selling my 16610LV and using the funds to put towards purchasing the BP.

What are peoples thoughts on my idea?

Any responses would be most welcomed.

Thanks,
Darren.
A Blancpain is something you add. Just go in with the mindset you woll never get back what you paid when reselling.

I prefer the BP, it's a far more interesting watch than the sub, but as others have said, perhaps wait a while and buy preowned one at a much greater discount.

I like the aesthetic and history of the BPFF line but make sure you’re willing to live with the lower trade value.if that’s not a factor, then get it.

I have owned five versions of the FF (currently still have MilSpec and a Bathye). I love BlancPain and the FF. It’s such an incredible watch. Now if you were talking about a modern LV, or Sub in general, I’d say yes get the FF. However, that five digit LV is IMO the best representation of the five digit Sub (I’ve also owned my 16610 for 24 years). The five digit subs are the absolute best. I will never part with mine. In your shoes there is no way I’d part with such a classic example of the best era of Submariners.

Non-limited edition FF tend to depreciate quite a bit. Wait six months and buy the FF secondhand at a better discount than what the AD is offering. That way you keep the LV and get the FF.

Why thinking of reselling ? Why not thinking of keeping and wearing a beautiful time piece forever?

Think of the facts. Your LV is valued at a point which will help you purchase the FF. What if you fall out of love with it? Will you have the same purchasing power? I think not. You already have a very desired, valuable piece. Add the FF don’t trade for it.

In what universe is a Sub more unique than a FF?

This one !

The 42mm 50 fathoms is a moden interpretation of the original model which is unwearable by many, the 5 digit Sub LV is discontinued, it reatins many of the original Sub characteristics with some twist, so yes it is more piece unique not to add that the value of a good LV example (full set) will only appreciate with time.

By the way, there is plastic version of the 50 fathoms "Swatch" that can might help with the itch
