Great watch, indeed. Love the warmth of the tritium plots.

Not that it needed to be replaced because it’s a fantastic
reference... For personal reasons I let it go and
found a replacement.

Searching for quite some time I’ve been on the hunt
for a 5 digit Sub as I already have a ceramic blue sub
and wanted something a little different as a TRF member
had suggested.

Tossing and turning should I get a Sub C or a Sub C date since I've been already
used to the 6 digit ceramics I settled on a sub date LN pre-ceramic.

I’ve never ever owned one because I always thought it was
too boring...
Needless to say I took the plunge on the 16610.
Since I already have a Ceramic Bluesy, I have a ceramic fix
Thus I couldn’t be more ecstatic about the 5 digit LN Sub...

After about a week and a half I Simply love it !!!
The feel , the weight and the proportions of the
5 digit are absolutely perfect ... I even like the older clasp...
I found a gorgeous tritium dial early 16610 and took the plunge.
To me that is THE sub (5 digit) - If I had a 6 digit it would have to be a 114060 no date - clean dial...

It is “the” sub in my view. So rounded and perfect. Rolex took us from the first iteration in the 50s to the peak of design with the 16110. The ceramic messed around with the legacy DNA too much and, lost the plot.

That is actually a sweet watch. That generation is very hard to beat. Not sure what it is but but I kinda like all the "inferior" attributes of the five digits like the clasp, something quite neat about it's bulky appearance and oyster stamp.

Beautiful watch OP, love the patina. Though I own some 6 digit references, the classic 5 digit case is still my favorite.

I think you’re on to something.
I’ve had both and still have both one of each , the 5 digit
feels special believe it or not ...

Agree, I’ll even admit that I prefer the feel/wearability of the legacy 93150 bracelets...but I love the glidelock feature.
