I don’t get it... was the original camouflage design so popular that they HAD to release 3 more variations?

I love AP to bits, but they've got to come up with new tricks, or re-name to "RO Company" as they literally are making nothing but these.

AP CEO mentioned in many interviews how they learned from their past mistake of producing too many variations of the same model. Here we are pre-SIHH 2019 with the exact same mistake happening again. Smh..

AP hinted at new dress watch designs in an Instagram comment. I’ll hold out for those, but for now, these are pretty ugly.

Not a fan, I am trying to take my time, take it all in, and try to like it, but it's not working. Too gimmicky and trendy, one my least favorite novelties in a long time. The target demographic must be buying them since they keep making new iterations of these outlandish watches. Reminds me of the offshore chrono divers with the weird colors (pistachio, orange, etc. )

Yes, could be the new model is more dress orientated and of the JA line, so to balance that out more sporty and whacky ROOs are being released.

This. Just when is the new ROO movement coming out. This Dubois Depraz modular clutch chrono is so dated, not to mention unreliable and tiny in a 44mm case.

Really dont think we'll see it anytime soon in the ROO. FB already said it would debut in a new line and then the natural progression would be to put it in the ROC since that is not in-house. The subdial layout is also different in the ROC so they would have to change the dial of the ROO. The ROO has always been a modular movement and with the 3120 being the base movement for the 3126 I think the ROO would be the last to get the new chrono.

Uf...

Dont like it, 44m should be synonym for high end watches made of tech materials, this is undermining entire line...

Hope some better pieces coming, not the best way to say bye from last SIHH...

Must admit I liked the AP of old who used exotic materials be it FC, cermet or ceramic to create diversity to the range and not these flash colours and camo’s.

But I’m fully aware there is a market out there and buyers wanting these models!

I’ve been eyeing some 44 ROO but can’t justify $30k for a stamped dial, steel watch that houses a $500 off the shelf chrono modular. At least the 42 ROO has a gold rotor and the RO has white gold screws + engine turned dial. 44 just feels like bad value and being targeted to those wealthy enough to not care.

I remember when the Ti44 first came out you couldn’t find them for $35k, and now they’re $25k and not selling.
The camo is currently $40k, wonder how long that’ll last.

That’s an interesting take. But most Swiss watches are wildly overpriced if you just add up the components. Aren’t you really paying for the art? When you buy a Picasso, you don’t add up the cost of the paint and the canvas — you are paying for the art and what it represents.

The 44s have gold rotors that are coated to fit the aesthetic. I received the TI 44 about a month after it’s release and paid 22k. Just sayin.

Some of the 44s even have a galvanised-grey gold rotor, whatever the hell they are.

My prediction: there will be so many more of these Offshore variations, people are going to buy them hastily and eventually get tired of them, prices will go down in the used market, then eventually future collectors will collect them like vintage rolex used to be: relatively cheap and interesting

Agreed, but when the RO has all the fine bells and whistles while the ROO doesn’t - just leaves a lot to be desired. I prefer the Petite Tapisserie squares vs the stamped “mega” version that I’m sure is cheaper to produce. I also find the WG screws very elegant vs steel. Then you get this modular movement (my 42 ROO had to go to Clearwater twice) that they drag their feet on upgrading...

I really want to add a 44 ROO but don’t want to be stuck when they finally make a movement fitting for this watch.

Here’s my 42, she said it’s also too small

Spectacular price, do you take referrals?

I agree with you there. The RO is much finer than the ROO because of all that you mentioned and it’s pure originality.
