Incoming, my 'new beater'

Bought a Volvo 240 wagon. I don't really need a car but thought it was handy and I've always liked these old station wagons.

It is in good condition, 250k kilometres on the odometer. Two small rusty spots below the back window and a few small dents on the right side, but that is 'character'

Congrats

Something relaxing about using a beater car - less to worry about! (parking dings, etc)
The engine will be nicely run-in at 250k Kilometers

Brings back memories! My mom had an 1986 240GL wagon growing up that I learned to drive on. :)

Well, you've got the family wagon. Now it's time to get married and start having kids. 5 or 8 should be good.

I love wagons. I wish they are more popular here in the US. Currently we are crazy about SUVs which are lifted wagons. Go figure ;)

It's the illusion of safety and all wheel drive. Mostly the soccer-mom set are driving the SUV craze. To them it's logical to not want to be in the smallest car when transporting your family.

That would make for a nice weekend fishing car.

Nice! My first ride was a 1984 240 DL Turbo 2-door. Loved that car, got through high school, college, medical school, and my intern year in that bad boy. But then the cost of a new clutch was more than the resale value, so off it went. Was a sad day....

Awesome - Volvo is a great car.

They are bulletproof and will go on for ever.

Still have some of the most comfortable seats too in my book.

Congrats! Looks perfect for a beater (in a good way)!

If they are really bulletproof, perhaps I should consider one when I’m going to the city.

I had several of those wagons, the babysitter crashed the first and we had to trade the second for a minivan :(. Perfect car for a musician or photographer.
