Sorry guys...

Sorry fellas... after long deliberation and thinking, I think this is the best route to take. I'm going to to jump ship from the 312 for now and hold onto the funds for another Panerai. Looking to get something like the 270 sometime soon though as I can't stand NOT having the super bubble! Going to be Panerai-less until I get a good deal on a 270.

Hopefully not for long. And hopefully I don't regret this move.

Just wanted to sorta get that off my chest.

Thanks for reading fellas.

How about leaving the dark side completely and get another Rolex?

Joey,

I totally feel you.... Had the 312 for a bit, then went to the 270 and then to the 289. The bubble ROCKS. What sucks the most is that now I actually miss both the 312 and the 270... Man, it is a tough one....

270???

IMHO you might want to think again or wait for next year model. As I know there are still only K serial 270, no L yet. I almost pull the trigger on 270 K serial on few occasions... But saw quite a bit complains on its movement - stop for no reason, PR issue, loss few hours a day when PR goes down to 2 -3 days... And we know the Panerai service is not very good and very slow. I just don't want to spend more than 10K then dealing with problems instead of enjoying it. Just my 2 cents.

True... I did hear about movement issues but I thought this was on earlier models.

I was not aware of these issues with the 270. Thanks for the heads up.

270's a great watch. Bet the money burns a hole in your pocket and you're back on the dark side quicker than you think

Actually I've always wondered about the need for a 10 day power reserve on an automatic. With that said, it's one of the reasons why I like the 270, but I would be concerned if the watch started to lose track of time with 3 days of PR left because it wouldn't really be 10 days of PR.

Now I'm actually torn because the 270 was my next purchase. Maybe I'll wait for the 347 instead.

Never had a problem with my 270j. I personally prefer my 233 or 289 but cannot bring myself to sell it. It is a unique piece and the 312 while a good value pales in comparison IMHO.

This is one of the 270 K seial

http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...=5053171&rid=0

I talked to the seller - very honest guy, he told me this is his second K serial 270, first one just stopped for no reason, sent in for repair, waiting 3 months, came back same problem again; then AD replaced a new one for him, and...

I am glad someone just brought up the "10 day auto movement" question. What is the point? To me, with a movement as special as that, one needs to be connected. What better way to get connected than to interact with it once a week by winding it up. Its like in a marriage, lol.

Now that you have your money out of the 312, and untill you decide on a 270 or other somesuch new model, I suggest that you pick up something a little more historic. Something like this:

Cheers!

i think a lot of the Paneristi purits will disagree on the historic classification of the 268/346 by panerai, purely due to the "fang" and the cyclops above the date , but i have to say the 346 brown dail and titanium case are stunning ...
