One has to go

Ok, so I posting this in the omega section so may get some bias responses.

I have a standard speedy pro and a Breitling Navi AOPA 75th anniversary model and I am looking to sell off one of these. My rotation includes the older model Daytona w/white dial, 16610, Hamilton Khaki Field, couple g Shocks and these two. However, I am looking to get rid of either the navi or the speedy to give the others more wrist time.

Which one should go and why?

I would definitely keep the speedy. I want one myself. Not a big fan of Breitling. Just my 2 cents.

Which AOPA LE - one of 500 or one of 750?

Exactly. I have never been a brietling fan so it could be the most amazing piece in their collection... But I would have a regular speedie everyday of the week!

Dump everything but the Rolexes. Get a killer third watch, maybe a dress Patek,or Vacheron.

It’s the 750 limited edition. When I called breitling they indicted the 500 pieces was for the European market and 750 were for the USA. They are identical except for a slight variation on the caseback.

I have only been on this forum a few years now but it seems like it has taken a turn to extreme, seems like most of the people on here have drank the Rolex kool aid

That wasn’t even the question he asked

This is so true.

There are a ton of know-nothings on here that buy watches for prestige. If it’s not a Rolex, PP or AP it’s not worth owning.

Lol, not to mention that if I sold the Navi, speedy, and Hamilton and even g shocks I would still be many thousands shy of a patek or VC!

first off, you are the Omega section. likely only to receive pro omega responses.

and you are talking about one of the best Omega watches out there. One of the most iconic watches of any brand.

I personally love Breitling. but this is no comparison. Let the Navi fund something else.

And if he posted in the Breitling section, he’d receive pro Breitling responses.

So, what’s the recourse? Post a Bretling vs. Omega question in the Rolex discussion forum?

I would keep the speedy. But which one do you love the most is really the question.

I admire the Navitimer, and maybe I'll have one some day, but I prefer the Speedmaster Pro for its unmatched legibility (especially going head-to-head with a Navitimer!). Also, the plastic crystal lends a sort of character that's rare in modern watches.

As long as we're on the subject, the Navitimer I figure on adding some day is the Cosmonaute with the hand-wound Lemania in it

Since the impetus is to give the others more wrist time, and not to fund another purchase, how about putting the Speedy and Navi, one at a time, into the safe for about a month each. Then see which watch you miss more during its respective absence.

This is a very good idea. I like the date on the Navi, but the versatility of the speedy not to mention the warm hesilite look and hand wound aspect which brings a bit of diversity to the collection.

The 750 LE was released to commemorate the 75th anniversary of AOPA in 2014 and have AOPA 75 years on the caseback and could be ordered with the AOPA member's name and member number engraved on the back.

The extra 500 were release in 2015 and just have AOPA on the case back, with no room for additional engraving.

If you ordered your Navitimer because you are an AOPA member and had it engraved, I would certainly suggest keeping that over the Speedy; but even if you didn’t, you will always be able to pickup another standard Speedy Pro in the future, so I would run against the prevailing (and unsurprising) views here so far and suggest you keep the Navitimer.

Love Speedmasters, but you'll have a much easier time replacing it over your Navitimer if you ever think you'll want one again.

get rid of the one you don't wear. You are asking people who you don't know which watch to keep and which to get rid of? Your watch is something that only YOU enjoy while looking down at your wrist.

Yeah. Exactly.

What’s the recourse? I don’t know. What about you? Posting in the Rolex section will only get it moved. Maybe open discussion.

I was being facetious suggesting the Rolex section. The open discussion forum is for non watch topics.

Give the people on this Omega forum some credit, it’s not nearly as biased as the Rolex section with regards to brand loyalty.

Maybe a bit...but I’m actually being sincere. There isn’t really a great place to have a brand vs brand thread (would be an interesting sub-forum idea). I’m merely disagreeing with your assessment that the Omega forum would be biased in answering the OPs question.

I know the post in the Rolex section would get moved, and I also know the omega forum appears to be far more active than the breitling section and so I decided to post here. It worked out as folks gave me some things to consider before making the move.
