Cartier Santos size opinion
Went to my local shop and tried on the WSSA0018. Was thinking that the medium would fit my 6.7 inch wrists better but surprisingly the medium looked pretty small to me. Can I get your opinion on how you think the large fits? Thanks.

Take a mirror photo with the watch on the wrist. It’ll give a better idea of how it will wear on you.
I have a 6.5 inch wrist and rock a Santos large blue dial. |

That looks big to me. What size is your wrist?
Do you have a wrist shot of the medium? I usually take a vote among my wife, the sales rep and me. We usually go 3-0. |

Stupid but I didn’t take a pick of the medium on. It struck me as too small immediately. For reference I also have a JLC Reverso Tribute Small Seconds and for some reason the medium Santos seemed smaller than that. The sales rep thought the large looked better. |

I default to "i'd rather it look a little too small than a little too big" so based on that picture i think it fits very well!

The watch looks too big in my personal opinion. If you like it, go for it, however.

From the picture it looks on the large side for my taste, but not crazy.
But it really is a personal taste issue so go with whatever feels good to you. |

I think I am tending to agree with you all that this might be too large. When I tried it on it wears smaller maybe due to it's thickness. It's also not a flat watch so it seemed to fit snugly. I am going to head back to the store and try the medium again and this time take a pic. Will report back to get your thoughts! Thanks again.

I like it, if it was me I'd say it fits perfectly. Have thin wrists that are 6.75", I like slightly bigger versus slightly smaller. jmho

I think it looks fine. I tried on the large and medium and also felt the large was a tad big and the medium was a tad small. I would have gone with the medium. Ultimately I decided to pass on both and stick with my Tank, which looks very small. My thought process was that I’d rather it look small to be just a bit more “dressy”’when putting on the leather strap.

I am planning to do the exact same thing this weekend. I have a 7" wrist and have been thinking the medium would be the one for me. I think the large definitely has a lot of presence on your wrist but not out of hand. That said, if it were me I would probably go for the smaller one.

I’m pretty conservative with my watch sizes. As an example I sold my Speedmaster Professional Hesilite for the Hodinkee H10 which uses the FOIS case. |

Beautiful watch!
I have a Speedmaster TinTin. That is about as big as I can go. I just got a Breguet Type XX that is 39mm and I love the way it fits. I have a 40mm JLC arriving tomorrow which I think will be my sweet spot on my wrist (at least to me). I am thinking the Santos may be my next watch. If I am able to get to the AD on Saturday and they have both sizes I will report back my thoughts. I am still thinking in a square watch I will like the smaller one better. We will see if I am right. |

I have 6.5 inch wrist and have tried both the medium and large size. The medium immediately looked smaller on the wrist. However, I spent 5 mins with it at the AD and my eyes started to adjust. I was wearing a Sub at that time. On the other hand, the large fit my wrist exactly how it is fitting your wrist. I can wear it but for the style, it is too big for a daily wearer and too much in your face. My wife preferred the large though.
That model is on my wishlist and I will definitely pick the medium in the future. The medium model is more size approporiate historically and I prefer something slightly small and under the radar rather than a big watch for daily use. But to each his own. |

I have about a 6.5 inch wrist. I tried on the medium and it looked a bit small on my wrist. I ended up choosing the large blue dial version and I couldn't be happier. The large model is just under 40 mm in diameter, but square or rectangular watches always look larger than their dimensions suggest compared to round watches of similar dimensions. I've noticed this with my other square and rectangular watches. Wishing you luck with whatever size you choose.

I dropped by the AD again and took some more shots. Here’s the large again. Thanks for your opinions!

Killer watch. Medium looks better to me. Bottom picture with blue sleeve close to the watch in it gives good perspective on how much better the proportions are.

I agree. Medium looks better. I am really loving the look of that this watch. It is definitely the a front runner for my next addition.

Are all of those 3 pics the medium? You say “here is the large again”, and I’m confused...
I think either would work - I don’t find the Large “too big”, but I’d probably go with the medium. This isn’t meant to be an “in your face” watch and I think more classic proportions are a more logical choice. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Unless it falls off your wrist, I think the large isn't a bad option.

AH, thank you! I think I want to change my vote. I like how the large looks. Bottom line, I think whatever you like best is the answer :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think your trying to love it, and justifying it, but it aint singing to you looks like. The large is to big for your wrist. Maybe its the metal bracelet adding to the size perception. Try it on a leather strap if they have, otherwise the medium is the winner.

No not trying to love either. Probably like most of the watch community I enjoy the process of buying a watch. Researching, trying it on a few times over the span of time. Sometimes the fascination fades. It hasn’t with this watch. I did take one of the posters above recommendation and went to a large mirror and actually looked at it from afar. That helped. Leaning towards the medium. I asked the AD if there were any incentives or discounts. No deal. I’m heading to another AD tomorrow to see if they’re willing to negotiate. |

Medium looks great. Would be my choice. You could pull of the large if you wanted the date.
