Vintage buying confusion
This morning I awoke to a nice message when attempting to track a 1970 ref. 1500 via UPS that I purchased from Osaka: "UPS is holding the cargo at a secure facility, pending instructions and agreement."
Anybody else went through something similar? How did it work out? |

Obviously you need to call them if they are waiting on instruction.

I've had similar on Fedex purchases from Europe, in my case it meant certain customs value declaration forms need to filled out

I have the same message on a UPS tracking for an item I have sold/sent. Customs requested documents from the receiver. Just FYI, I was told by UPS that after a certain timeframe (if delays take place) their system automatically shows "The item is being sent back to the shipper". This message is only system generated and is incorrect.

Yes, I recently sent a watch to the US from UK. It was held for a week. Eventually DHL contacted me as I’d missed one declaration form. Once filled out correctly watch was delivered without issue.

Mine came from England from a brick and mortar dealer there by FedEx. I had to fill out duplicate sets of papers about the watch and so did the dealer, even though copies were with the package. Then it took a week for the customs to get around to giving the ok. Seems like they had a backlog of work to do. Eventually the watch arrived safe and sound and package was unopened. Then a few weeks later I paid about $375 import duties on a $10,500 watch that FedEx paid for me, then charged it to my credit card. For me well worth the effort.

Update! Package was being held by customs for no seeming reason (UPS guy on the phone was even confused!). Watch should come today with no issues!
Thanks everyone! |

Same thing happened to me. You will need to get in touch with UPS on line, fill out the form and pay the import fees. You have to understand this is your import fees, seller has nothing to do with it, you have to do this. Your watch will sit there until you take care of it.
