GMTIIC vs Sub-C

Hello All,

I currently own the Explorer (214270) and after a year of use, find that the hands are too small for my liking and I need a date. If this watch had that, I would REALLY love it. I am thinking about waiting for the new Date-just with the flat bezel to come around as I like the simplicity and refinement of that style for business, work, and play.

But the GMTIIC and Sub-C are also in in play for me. Not sure the black bezel is my style (the new Exp II doesn't do it for me).

Can someone post pics of the total thinckness of both of theses watches and also of the two clasp types? in searching, I cannot find a clasp comparison although many have commented on the Sub-C being larger.

Thanks!

If the size of the hands is your problem, this is the solution... (but perhaps with a white dial) this watch has the biggest hands/markers in the Rolex lineup.

I think the SubC would make a perfect replacement.

I prefer the bezel layout, all brushed bracelet and gidelock clasp.
The GMT wears slightly thicker IMO but still a stunner of a watch.
Good luck with your decision. Hit an AD and try those babies on sided by side.
Here's a couple pics if it helps..

The GMTIIc clasp is about a 1cm smaller than the sub glidelock.

But the fine adjustment is only with the half clasp on the GMT whereas the Sub has micro adjustments with the glidelock facility.

If you have slimmer wrists you will probably find the GMT more comfortable.

The SubC glidelock clasp is much longer, but IMO wears the same as the GMTII.

The SubC is actually (nominally) thicker of the two, even though the case is thicker on the GMTII.

Thanks All!

Edward - appreciate the comparisons side by side! I need to get to the AD to feel them on.

Exp II - felt too big for me overall, but it will be there also to try on again.

I know the Sub's microadjustments could be nice, but after some fiddling, my Exp sets right in now so feel on will be important to me.

I'm leaning GMTIIc with BCL.

I was in the same position. I chose the GMT2C because of the PCL.
To me it adds a bit of dressing up with the PCL. If I can find a seller in USA
for a Super Jubilee then I will brush the whole bracelet.

Ricco - check out the Rolex web site and look at DJII - it's shown there and I undertsnad that style will hit AD's in the fall.

Sub c anyday. Looks neater without the green hand and the bezel looks cleaner. The glidelock clasp is wonderful to use in winter/summer where u can make on the fly adjustment.

GMT any day. PCLs give it more versatility, bezel has more pop imo, easylink works fine for adjustment, love it.

I have both and love both, but the blue lume on the sub swings it for me. My GMT is TT both are different and lovely. The fine adjustment is amazing on the sub c.
