Complete Newbie Question
Hello all,
I know this is going to probably sound absolutely ridiculous howver I am not a very established collector, compared to I’m sure most of you I am more a optimistic enthusiast haha. I’ve also never purchased soley online before I’ve always done face to face meets as I used to travel to major cities more frequently begore this pandemic. So my question is why is it that when purchasing online sellers keep the serial number private. I understand that you dont want people copying/stealing this information however by everyone not sharing this important authenticity information doesn’t that just open the door for more people to scam? Like I said it’s probably a ridiculous question, I just thought this would be the best place to ask! Thanks in advance for your insight! |

Welcome to the forum.
Serial numbers are like social insurance numbers ... you don’t want everyone else to know it |

The biggest reason is to avoid the inevitable onslaught of messaging and posts that tell you that your "serial is showing".

I thought it was to keep the AD safe from them selling to the secondary market
