Special Speedy Tuesday Arrival—3590.50

Today is an extra special Speedy Tuesday. I turned 40 last week, and as a way to celebrate and mark the occasion, I purchased this lovely 3590.50 from 1989.

I’ve been casually looking for a birth-year speedy for a while now, but a definite “1984” with papers or an extract has been hard to come by. My friend, Gregory, suggested that I widen the scope a bit and choose something from the “period” that had all of the characteristics that I like to look at.

This beauty—originally sold on 3 June 1989—popped on Lunar Oyster last Thursday night / Friday morning. After talking with the seller (Kirill) on the phone, I decided to move forward.

It came today. Wow. Look at that tritium. Look at that Tall “S” and long “R.” Hands are original tritium, too, even though they have aged a little lighter than the indices (fires up beautifully for about two seconds under a black light ha ha).

The real 1450 is quite amazing. I have my 1861 on an Uncle Seiko, but the difference is noticeable.

Side note: Kirill was exceptional to deal with. He responded to my texts and phone call within minutes and answered all of my questions. We scheduled an overnight shipment for yesterday so that I would be home to sign for it today (he gave me a few options, including shipping it immediately last week). Frankly, I’ve been a fan of his website for some time (I particularly appreciate the way that he stages his watches and provides pictures from multiple angles), and I would definitely work with him again without hesitation.

Took it to my watch guys today and they time-graphed it for me. Running exceptionally well.

Hope you’re all having a great “time” today, too.

Wow...What a beautiful looking watch. The dial is superb. You can't go wrong with the 3590.50. While the vintage 321 gets lots of accolades for is spacefaring adventures the 3590.50 has seen many a day is space and plenty of EVA time on both early shuttle space walkers and cosmonauts wrists.

Well done!!
